my brother just bought the surface pro 7, and initially the keyboard works, but after closing the type cover, once he returns, the keyboard does not work anymore, the driver cannot even be found. We tried all fixes, nothing except factory reset worked. It happened again today, a day later and we are perplexed. we cannot continue to factory reset every day for this keyboard type cover to work, what can be done??

I've solved my problem, so far, using a small wire nail to scratch the Surface keyboard contacts. After that the keyboard is working again and after two days the SW driver is still detecting the keyboard, and I'm abusing on disconecting and connecting several times the keyboard...

The SP4 typecover issue is "permanently disabled for most people". The issue on

SP7 seems different. You should use the Feedback hub app to file a problem

report (and so should everyone else with this issue) and then use Share to get a

link and post it here so everyone with this issue can upvote.

Ive had the same problem but got it working, lay the surface pro flat along with the cover, plug and unplug the cover in until it shows up or light up but don't move it from being flat, run the diagnostic tool and go through it, and it should work, for me it was a driver error once I tilted the surface it would disconnect the type cover and then the test couldn't fix the driver without the cover present. hope that helps

If any of you see this repeat after a reset (or even if you don't want to go

through the pain of a reset), return both the Surface and the typecover and

repurchase. You should not have issues like this on a brand new device.
