Surface Pro 5 fan stops working after installing firmware update

Hi

I have a Surface Pro 2017, i7, 8GB, 256 but in recent month the fan is not turning on in any working condition. previously I can heard easily the sound of the fan but now its not turn on anyway.

    Jan, think logically, how is downgrading to 1703 going to solve a firmware issue? Microsoft is likely going to send you a replacement, however I'm tempted to wait a bit longer until they release a newer firmware to fix the issue, since this issue isn't hardware or operating system related for that matter.

    In the mean time I'm using an USB fan pointed towards the back of the device and this keeps sufficiently cool. That saves the hassle of creating a backup and reinstalling it on a new device.

    I also can confirm that with going back to 1803, the fan issue is still there..

    I am going to download and try 1703 next. If this also do nat help I have to return it.

    People, save yourself the time of reinstalling everything.

    Barb's advice of the recovery image does not work, I did that already on a replacement Surface with a working fan which stopped after getting the beta firmware from release preview. After the recovery image (which was still 1803 at the time, no 1809 for sp5) it does initially show firmware and driver updates but the (older) firmware won't overwrite.

    Microsoft DOES test firmware with Insiders. It isn't accidental, but I can't

    tell you what they might have delivered as they don't document it.
