Surface Pro 5 fan stops working after installing firmware update

Hi

I have a Surface Pro 2017, i7, 8GB, 256 but in recent month the fan is not turning on in any working condition. previously I can heard easily the sound of the fan but now its not turn on anyway.

Thank you for your feedback. We understand your concerns and have been investigating. An update has been flighted to Windows Insiders that we believe addresses this problem and are evaluating that update for release on Windows Update.

    Yes, thanks Barb.

    Downloading the recovery image now for 1803 and will see if that makes a difference. Will post back to the forum either way.

    As I said in my reply to Nortnern Cyclist, I'd reimage from a downloadable

    recovery image and stress test to see if the fan turns on or not. Then update to

    1809 and test some more. If you still have issues and are experiencing a shut

    down with the thermometer icon, consider an exchange.

    >Do you think that doing a clean Windows 10 install on the machine would get it working again? I'd rather have fans and just run the standard Win 10 Pro if that's an option. Not convinced it would myself if it's a firmware issue (or hardware).

    Get the official downloadable recovery image from

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/surfacerecoveryimage  and completely wipe

    and reimage. Then update to 1809 and all the latest drivers and firmware through

    Windows Update. Then stress test as best you can to see if the fan starts and if

    it shuts down with the thermometer icon.

    If you still have these issues and you are in the US, you should go to the

    closest physical retail Microsoft Store
