Surface Pro 4 Keyboard not working / type cover keyboard driver missing

Hi.

I have a surface Pro 4 and the type cover keyboard is not working.

The driver has gone missing (just shows HID keyboard device) so I can't do what the other forums have said an uninstall the driver.

I have installed the SP4 driver updates and still not working.

I also did the two-button restart and disabled/enabled the keyboard in UEFI. No joy.

This is really frustrating. Other people have this issue:

I'm on 10.0.18632 Build 18632 MS Windows 10 Pro

Can anyone help with this?

    Hello, you're welcome !

Perhaps reinstalling windows (without keeping files) before starting my procedure can be a step 00 for people that don't have success with it. I did it some times before coming to the solution, but I'm not sure it helped me a lot.

If you confirm that you've tested my procedure a first time without success, then you'd success with it after having reinstall windows, it can motivate people to had that step to the process.

    Hi DarshanP,

Step 03 is the most important as it allows the item to appear in the list.

Possibly you did it and you've another problem but perhaps the most of people you're talking about didn't catch that step 03 is necessary for step 04..

Finally, today, I can see a lot of people are saying they were able to recover usage of the type cover with those steps.

    Good luck.
