Surface Pro 4 Keyboard not working / type cover keyboard driver missing

Hi.

I have a surface Pro 4 and the type cover keyboard is not working. 

The driver has gone missing (just shows HID keyboard device) so I can't do what the other forums have said an uninstall the driver.

I have installed the SP4 driver updates and still not working.

I also did the two-button restart and disabled/enabled the keyboard in UEFI. No joy.

I'm on 10.0.18632 Build 18632 MS Windows 10 Pro

    I hope you haven't bought the new cover type.

    There's another user's complaint that even with a new one isn't working.

    I'm facing same problem here in Brazil.

    Hi, This is MAD from Bangladesh. I have tried to go back with the reinstallation of an old version of Windows 10 (64Bit - KB4487018) version 1507 build 10240, but it did not work at all. I am not sure if we format the entire hard disk of Microsoft Surface Pro 4 (post ensuring full back up into another external hard drive) and install the old version of windows and firmware will work it or not. I am not an expert on formatting at all. Can anyone help me to guide to test this?

    Same problem in France but the support service couldn't understand and said me that i have to buy an other one cover keyboard... Please help us

    Hey Nick,

    I had the same issue and tried all Janette's answers. I decided to buy a new keyboard in the end at my local store, which did the trick. Apparently my keyboard's hardware is broken after 3+ years of usage.

    I don't know if this is also the case for any of you guys, but I recommend going to the local computer store and try or buy a new keyboard (make sure you can return it if it doesn't work out).

    I hope this will solve it for you too. As for Jeanette: I agree that this way of 'support' is really bad, Microsoft should be ashamed.

    Hello

    Your scenario sounds the same

    If I completely drain the laptop , which takes about 3 to 4 days and it does work for a while. But then if I let lock or shut down I lose it.

    Similarly I to had mine replaced due to the screen flickering and seriously overheating.

    I am convinced its software, and something to dobwith the uodate tgst happen in October 🤔

    Might have to purchase a v cheap Bluetooth keyboard 😥

    2 laptop replacements (the other time was due to software updates) and one keyboard replacement in 5years! Not good......

    Seriously thinking of getting a Mac now
