surface book battery drain while shut down

I have been noticing that when I shutdown my surface book, when I power it on the next day the battery has drained some. If I leave it off for a couple of days it will drain down from 100% to around 85% or lower.

I disabled fast startup... and then just decided to disable hibernation altogether. That didn't help.

I have windows hello disabled, but that shouldn't matter anyway since I'm shutting it down, not sleeping.

Some searching and I found a general windows 10 issue with the "Intel Management Engine Interface" driver. Some say that v11 can cause this issue. One solution that I have seen suggested is to go into device manager and in the power management tab for this device uncheck the option that allows windows to power it down to save power. I tried that and it didn't help.

Others have suggested downgrading the driver from v11 to v9 or v10, but I don't know where to get v9 or v10 of this driver that is compatible with the surface book. Anyone know if one of the downloads on Intel's site would be compatible?

So, has anyone else noticed this issue and know of a fix?

    Maybe I should have brought it to a store. I always had some hope over the year that next "fix" coming out will fix everything. But at some point I had to stop messing with the laptop and  focus on my main job.  I switch to a lenovo x1 yoga. So far 0 problem there. I am using the SB as a "desktop" now since I also invested a surface dock.

    Yes I thank everyone on this forum taking time to provide their valuable input. I have to say this maybe the best user forum of any product i have used, albeit no one has real solutions to these problems.

    I'll have to agree with you that studying a 5% drop in battery in 30 minutes while sleeping is not worth it. Consider the possibility that the Surface Book battery reporting algorithm may not be accurate. The only thing that means something to me is how my Surface Book actually performs. My Surface Book really does work reliably all day on battery when I'm out of the office using default Sleep/Hibernate.

    If your Surface Book will not make it through a long workday on battery then something is wrong. I'm located in Atlanta, GA and I'm close to two Microsoft Stores. With the problems I've had as an early adopter, my Microsoft Stores have actually replaced my Surface Book three different times. However I know now that each of those replacements were not necessary and the problems were fixed over time by updates. If you actually have a defective Surface Book they should replace it. Your Surface Book should work as advertised at this point in time.

    The battery drains 5%  percent in 30 minutes while in sleep. I have done many sleep studies trying to figure it out but I finally decided it's not worth it and just gave up. I have been using hibernation instead.  We also have Dell, Lenovo all running windows, and Mac laptops, all of which you can just close yhe lid and put in a bag. Not with SB in sleep. I don't have abnormal battery drain after shutdown or Hibernation otherwise I would have thrown it away. It is not really a windows 10 problem, not as much as  hardware or firmware problems. While I think it's great that  MS is pushing for inmovation, It is out of my comprehension why they sell untested products. It is clear that MS is not as good a company making reliable hardware.

    I'm having the same problem with it powered completely off.  The battery 2 on the clipboard part drains faster than the battery one in the base but it happens even after the latest firmware update on November 18.

    Sorry to hear you are having trouble with battery drain on Surface Book.

    When did this start happening?

    Can you manually confirm all updates are installed successfully?  You may need to restart several times for all to be presented for installation.

    Please explain how you are shutting down Surface.
