Surface Pro 4 type cover suddenly not working.

I don't know what happened. I turned my Surface Pro 4 on the other day and the type cover is dead. No lights. No response. No indication that it's working at all.  I rarely take my surface anywhere.

This started on July 9th 2018. My system information is below. I've gone through all of the steps in the "Troubleshoot your Surface Type Cover or keyboard" page. I've tried to manually download and install the latest firmware and drivers from the "Download firmware and drivers for surface" page. I picked SurfacePro4_Win10_16299_1801701_1.msi. My device manager does not show the "Surface Touch Cover Filter Device" under keyboards or anywhere. It only shows the HID keyboard and cannot detect my type cover. The type cover is completely unresponsive. Also, my windows updates are completely up to date. I've provided the links to the troubleshooting pages I used below.

I haven't been able to use my Surface Pro 4 type cover for months following one of the Windows10 updates. Tried all their suggested fixes and the type cover is still nonfunctional and unrecognized. Most of Microsoft's troubleshooting articles suggest contacting your device's manufacturer for assistance or to download the correct driver??? It would be nice if they actually did something to help instead of going in circles with their fix-it suggestions.

There is no way to keep the Surface Pro function? Updating did the same break to my Surface Pro 4--I can only use the 'touchscreen keyboard' 🤣

After trying just about everything in the forums to get the keyboard cover to start working, all with no success, I took the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 to the Microsoft store.  They worked on it for a couple of hours, including new drivers, etc., ending up with a complete re-image.

In the end, they gave up and offered me a credit toward a new Surface Pro.

I pick up the new Surface Pro Thursday, but this time I am getting the extended warranty...

I tried deleting all the keyboard drivers and installed them again with different date versions and finally i managed to get the typecover keyboard work again. It's been almost 2 months working without any  problems. From the very moment the keyboard worked I stopped the update service from the services app.
