Please add me to the list of broken keyboards...
After a recent Windows 10 Update, my keyboard cover stopped working. No connection, no lights, no response of any kind.
The device manager says it is working properly, and the driver is current.
I cannot tell which update caused this since I use a dock most of the time. The update must have occurred sometime between September 8-16 and October 10 (dates I used the keyboard cover while travelling).
- I tried my cover on another Microsoft Surface Pro 4 (MSP4) and it works on the other MSP4.
- I tried a working cover from another MSP4 and it also does not work on my MSP4.
- I have uninstalled and updated the drivers several times both the keyboard and blue tooth (separately and together).
- In device manager, I have removed all keyboard devices and restarted the computer.
- I found a troubleshooting link: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4023473/surface-troubleshoot-your-type-cover-or-keyboard- I have tried everything on the list except for re-imaging the computer. (From the forums, this apparently does not work).
- An external keyboard with docking station works properly, just not the keyboard cover.
- An external USB keyboard also works properly, just not the keyboard cover.
- The cover does not work in the UEFI mode, or any other mode.
In all cases, the Windows system says the keyboard is detected and working properly, however it does nothing. Dead.
Nothing works.
Any idea how to fix this?
Windows 10 Pro, Version 1903, OS Build 18362.418
Firmware version 103.2851.256.0 (dated 9/3/2019)
Surface Keyboard 1.1.504.0 (dated 3/23/2017)
As a side note, I was about to purchase a Surface Pro 7 (1Tb) as I like the Surface Pro configuration. However, after seeing the level of support provided by Microsoft, with no resolution to the keyboard cover issue, I think I will look elsewhere.
