Surface Pro 4 type cover suddenly not working.

I don't know what happened. I turned my Surface Pro 4 on the other day and the type cover is dead. No lights. No response. No indication that it's working at all.  I rarely take my surface anywhere. 

This started on July 9th 2018. My system information is below. I've gone through all of the steps in the "Troubleshoot your Surface Type Cover or keyboard" page. I've tried to manually download and install the latest firmware and drivers from the "Download firmware and drivers for surface" page. I picked SurfacePro4_Win10_16299_1801701_1.msi. My device manager does not show the "Surface Touch Cover Filter Device" under keyboards or anywhere. It only shows the HID keyboard and cannot detect my type cover. The type cover is completely unresponsive. Also, my windows updates are completely up to date. I've provided the links to the troubleshooting pages I used below.

    Sir,

    i respectfully disagree,  environmental condensation and environmental dirt, soot, smoke (yes I smoke) causes the issue of physical connectivity.

    I 100% agree, i have just about followed every possible advice i could find on the net. All started with a windows update. My type face work in UEFI mode but not once started up.

    I have. Rebooted, updated drivers, did 2 x fresh reinstalls, power button options....

    THIS IS A MICROSOFT ISSUE. PLEASE FIX IT!!!!!

    I tried deleting all the keyboard drivers and installed them again with different date versions and finally i managed to get the typecover keyboard work again. It's been almost 2 months working without any  problems. From the very moment the keyboard worked I stopped the update service from the services app.

    same problem!!!!!! My surface cannot detect the cover driver after updating on Sept 2 2019! The Hong Kong custom service asked me to replace the surface while paying 3k+ Hong Kong dollars.
