Surface Pro 4 type cover suddenly not working.

I don't know what happened. I turned my Surface Pro 4 on the other day and the type cover is dead. No lights. No response. No indication that it's working at all.  I rarely take my surface anywhere.

This started on July 9th 2018. My system information is below. I've gone through all of the steps in the "Troubleshoot your Surface Type Cover or keyboard" page. I've tried to manually download and install the latest firmware and drivers from the "Download firmware and drivers for surface" page. I picked SurfacePro4_Win10_16299_1801701_1.msi. My device manager does not show the "Surface Touch Cover Filter Device" under keyboards or anywhere. It only shows the HID keyboard and cannot detect my type cover. The type cover is completely unresponsive. Also, my windows updates are completely up to date. I've provided the links to the troubleshooting pages I used below.

Yes I got 17763.437 this morning, and keyboard is still working after a couple of restarts, which normally it doesn't after a power off condition. Fingers crossed.

For anyone else, to check your OS version, click the magnifier icon lower left and type winver <enter>

Windows Updates - Control Panel -> Updates and Security -> WIndows Update.

I have my Advanced Options set to Semi Annual i.e. not Fast track / Developer options

This enabled me to upgrade the OS to 17763.437 -

I checked the keyboard drivers before and after the updates and the Surface Firmware updates (above) were installed - the keyboard then worked.

    Hope that helps.

    Paul

Nope scratch that did a disconnect of keyboard and went to check device manager it did an auto refresh and stopped it working again 🤦‍♂️ but I am at least optimistic that its a simple fix maybe microsoft can somehow disable whatever check happened to revert me to no sensors. Shouldve checked gps while it was working. btw it was the hid keyboard drivers and 1 hid mouse driver I uninstalled for reference (and the 3 above mentioned firmwares)

Ok I'm officially shocked I'm typing on my type cover 4 right now never thought I'd again see the day, I have zero idea as yet of updates while out or what has changed apart from uninstalling a few drivers as mentioned few post above but happy bunny atm. If it was you microsoft that did it I thank you
