Surface Pro 4 type cover suddenly not working.

I don't know what happened. I turned my Surface Pro 4 on the other day and the type cover is dead. No lights. No response. No indication that it's working at all. I rarely take my surface anywhere.

This started on July 9th 2018. My system information is below. I've gone through all of the steps in the "Troubleshoot your Surface Type Cover or keyboard" page. I've tried to manually download and install the latest firmware and drivers from the "Download firmware and drivers for surface" page. I picked SurfacePro4_Win10_16299_1801701_1.msi. My device manager does not show the "Surface Touch Cover Filter Device" under keyboards or anywhere. It only shows the HID keyboard and cannot detect my type cover. The type cover is completely unresponsive. Also, my windows updates are completely up to date. I've provided the links to the troubleshooting pages I used below.

Update for me I'd gave up then seen a few posts and thought why not try another uninstall of some drivers for kicks and nothing changed just got back home picked up my sp4 and... its **** rotating 🐱‍👤 will try my type cover now 😂...

Great support from all SP users.... it appears that the latest updates to 17763.437 seems to re-instate the required keyboard drivers.

In Device Manager, go View menu/Devices by Container

Look in the Surface container, are they there?

if not, once deleted the computer should do some sort of scan to then redownload them, and if its not happening that is still some sort of detection issue its not completing.

I guess what I am trying to pinpoint is that it does not appear to be an issue with the keyboard driver itself, rather the activation/instigation of it.

What happens when you force a hardware change scan, Do those drivers come back?

Action menu/scan for hardware changes in Device Manager

Thanks for the tip on finding the hidden drivers. Nice to know they're still there. Scanning for hardware changes doesn't accomplish anything for me, and "update driver" says the latest driver is currently installed.

Then again, I had earlier tried this tip from WindowsReport, which recommended deleting the driver software for:
- Surface Embedded Controller Firmware
- Surface System Aggregator
- Surface UEFI
... and then doing a restart. And of course now none of those are visible, hidden or otherwise. They're just gone. So I may have made a bad problem worse.
