Surface Pro 4 type cover suddenly not working.

I don't know what happened. I turned my Surface Pro 4 on the other day and the type cover is dead. No lights. No response. No indication that it's working at all.  I rarely take my surface anywhere.

This started on July 9th 2018. My system information is below. I've gone through all of the steps in the "Troubleshoot your Surface Type Cover or keyboard" page. I've tried to manually download and install the latest firmware and drivers from the "Download firmware and drivers for surface" page. I picked SurfacePro4_Win10_16299_1801701_1.msi. My device manager does not show the "Surface Touch Cover Filter Device" under keyboards or anywhere. It only shows the HID keyboard and cannot detect my type cover. The type cover is completely unresponsive. Also, my windows updates are completely up to date. I've provided the links to the troubleshooting pages I used below.

Try and restart your surface and keep doing circle clicks on the touch pad and see if your mouse shows up and until user logon, mine does circles until hello/winlogon takes over. And my keyboard defo works as tried it on a mates older surface.

Yeah got those too. The driver installation log files say the same:( I can see they gathered those from me as well, so unless they go after something specific, they will find it. Crossing fingers here.

Heres a couple of event logs that do seem to say it's a firmware issue, totally ridiculous to bork a firmware and not be able to rehash an older firmware to get this working. But yeah give us £333 and we will have a look and send u a who knows what state replacement 😒

Sort it out microsoft and give us rma on your mistake, I'll gladly pay shipping costs

Sorry to hear. I spent about 1.5 days trying everything and finally something worked - the two button reset. Hope this works for you.

I can't risk this happening again though as I need my laptop to run my content business so I'm going to change to something light and crucially, reliable, maybe a MacBook Air or Pro.

Mine stopped working aprox 14 days ago, been reinstalling from USB 2 times, done everything mentioned here.

Can see i have the sonsor problem so the keyboard not working. It register it in device manager and seem like it installs new typecovers when i connect them (Have a bunch of surface machines at work at various versions). Got in contact with a MS T3 supporter who try to help now, they got all logs from the machine. Will post when i get an answer. Not sure they look for sensor problems. My surface is out of warranty and its a refurbished from last year because of the flickering screen issue. I got past the gatekeeping from out of warranty support by going through windows support in my country (Denmark), they got me to surface support who but me further to the T3 supporters.

For reference, its an i7 8 Gb ram model. Surface pro 4.

Should get an answer around next week, hope they have a new firmware that can fix the problem. Its a big problem that we cant reinstall firmware in my opinion. (Or that MS cant reinstall it from their end)

Hope this is not another Flicker problem, love my surface, but i REALLY hate the weird problems it gives. and cant use it without a typecover (Not going to get a BT keyboard since the sensor not working is just irritation with screen rotation and auto brightness issues).
