Surface Pro 4 type cover suddenly not working.

I don't know what happened. I turned my Surface Pro 4 on the other day and the type cover is dead. No lights. No response. No indication that it's working at all.  I rarely take my surface anywhere.

This started on July 9th 2018. My system information is below. I've gone through all of the steps in the "Troubleshoot your Surface Type Cover or keyboard" page. I've tried to manually download and install the latest firmware and drivers from the "Download firmware and drivers for surface" page. I picked SurfacePro4_Win10_16299_1801701_1.msi. My device manager does not show the "Surface Touch Cover Filter Device" under keyboards or anywhere. It only shows the HID keyboard and cannot detect my type cover. The type cover is completely unresponsive. Also, my windows updates are completely up to date. I've provided the links to the troubleshooting pages I used below.

It's a shame I paid 2000€ for this product and some random update makes the keyboard unusable. I have called and they say it's a hardware issue (sure, right after firmware windows update, and some sensors stopped working as well). Plugged in other surface keyboards and none of them work. Resseting the surface to factory settings didn't work.

Really unprofessional support for an enterprise product. We were planning to upgrade to pro 6's for our managers and CEO but I will advice against it since Microsoft is not admiting they f*cked up with the firmware and they don't want to take any responsibility.

Have spent the past 4 hours running through all the fixes eg diagnostic tool and keyboard is still not being recognised by my Surface 4. I have a client deadline and no way of finishing writing what I need to. Coupled with fact that it has recently taken to stopping charging I have had enough of this laptop. I need a reliable machine to run my business and the Surface Pro 4 is anything but. I can put up with a flickering screen for a while but this is the final straw.

Add another to the list, currently my i7 16gb sp4 has all above symptoms of the other posts. Thought it was just the type cover 4 at first and didnt mind the thought of using a moko bluetooth cover but then after reading through every post I've no sensors active whatso ever but all drivers working and a cover that is recognised but not started. I'm 90% positive that the problem is a firmware malfuntion that or particular batch of sp4's had substandard/differing hardware to the ones without problems, so no warranty no ducks given.. nice

Mines stopped working without notice last Tuesday. I tried out most of the fixes the other replays suggest, unfortunately they didn't work; However I did notice 2 things. When I was in Device Manager uninstalling the surface type cover driver, I reconnected the type cover and the manager automatically gave me the driver back.

When I was in the UEFI, the keyboard didn't work but the touchpad worked (only in UEFI though). I could click on tabs like normal. So I figured that the Surface recognizes it connected but it doesn't recognize it properly.

    Has anyone seen this too?

Yes exactly the same here too.

....plus Battery drains fast while device is off (yes, really turned off) and some sensors are not woring anymore (screen rotation is not possible).

I believe too it's a fimware issue. Just because the touchepad works in UEFI.
