Surface Pro 4 type cover suddenly not working.

I don't know what happened. I turned my Surface Pro 4 on the other day and the type cover is dead. No lights. No response. No indication that it's working at all.  I rarely take my surface anywhere.

This started on July 9th 2018. My system information is below. I've gone through all of the steps in the "Troubleshoot your Surface Type Cover or keyboard" page. I've tried to manually download and install the latest firmware and drivers from the "Download firmware and drivers for surface" page. I picked SurfacePro4_Win10_16299_1801701_1.msi. My device manager does not show the "Surface Touch Cover Filter Device" under keyboards or anywhere. It only shows the HID keyboard and cannot detect my type cover. The type cover is completely unresponsive. Also, my windows updates are completely up to date. I've provided the links to the troubleshooting pages I used below.

Mines stopped working without notice last Tuesday. I tried out most of the fixes the other replays suggest, unfortunately they didn't work; However I did notice 2 things. When I was in Device Manager uninstalling the surface type cover driver, I reconnected the type cover and the manager automatically gave me the driver back.

When I was in the UEFI, the keyboard didn't work but the touchpad worked (only in UEFI though). I could click on tabs like normal. So I figured that the Surface recognizes it connected but it doesn't recognize it properly.

    Has anyone seen this too?

so mine turns on after a hour after boot and will stay on as long as the tablet is on, so i disabled sleep and have had the tablet on for like days still works fine , if i restart or unplug the keyboard it takes a couple restarts or hours for it to "just work". 100% firmware issue. going to try a surface recovery from there site i was recommended by support to try it then update again. but i mean if microsoft cant update these things without errors often like this i might just keep it as factory or maybe a couple basic updates.
