Surface Pro 4 type cover suddenly not working.

same here ... bid more funny ... and sad story at the same time ...

Pro 4 type cover stopped working, tried everything and also bought a new type cover which also doesn't work.

Both type covers work fine with my wife's surface 4 

The non responsive surface 4 works fine with a surface 3 type cover which we have from an old surface. You can also see that a new drive is loaded for that surface 3 type cover. Unfortunate its a different size of type cover so it looks like ****.

But to get my surface 4 pro with the corresponding type cover working is not possible. I completely re imaged the PC , doesn't work. Nothing works.

Microsoft doesn't care and would rather make more money off of customers for out of warranty replacement. It's easier for them to say it is a hardware failure and collect our money than to own up to their automatic updates potentially breaking our devices. We can't prove to them that it was their fault, so they sweep us under the rug because we can't hurt their brand.

I don't understand, why is there no response from MS?

Agreed MS doesn't bother to solve this, although MS has clearly known by now it was its own fault. MS knows most people's Surface Pro 4 are out of warranty. MS bares no cost to support, but may earn from some ignorant customers to pay to get out of its trap.

I read those SP3 users also suffered from typecover problem a year earlier, I suspect it's MS marketing strategy to make innocent customers to upgrade.

Likely MS believe we can't make enough noise to harm its brand. For me, I will avoid all its products from now on. All other brands would have faults from time to time, but most of them would respect customers and react to them no matter small of large groups.

i forgot:

it may be that ms havent really seen this as a major issue - it is an older machine now - and so their techs revert to a standard " if we cant fix it then it must be hardware - so tough " attitude.

a less charitable reading is that ms know all about this and its either something they havent got the effort or will to fix or its a design fault which they dont want  to acknowledge.

i am mainly an apple user now which is not to say apple dont make almighty cock-ups:  they do but less often i feel and generally get round ( eventually ) to fixing most of them.
