Surface Pro 4 type cover suddenly not working.

I don't know what happened. I turned my Surface Pro 4 on the other day and the type cover is dead. No lights. No response. No indication that it's working at all.  I rarely take my surface anywhere.

This started on July 9th 2018. My system information is below. I've gone through all of the steps in the "Troubleshoot your Surface Type Cover or keyboard" page. I've tried to manually download and install the latest firmware and drivers from the "Download firmware and drivers for surface" page. I picked SurfacePro4_Win10_16299_1801701_1.msi. My device manager does not show the "Surface Touch Cover Filter Device" under keyboards or anywhere. It only shows the HID keyboard and cannot detect my type cover. The type cover is completely unresponsive. Also, my windows updates are completely up to date. I've provided the links to the troubleshooting pages I used below.

The problem is not with the type cover, but with the Surface itself, we have a few surface pro 4, only 1 is having problems, but the type cover is working with the other Surface.

The keyboard / mouse is not working in UEFI, it it detected in windows. but not working.

The only place where I can see and move the cursor is when I do a restore with the usb key, after the restore it ask to reset the TPM (a message box where I can click continue).

Then it boot in windows and it's not working anymore....

Exactly, it's not the issue of the type cover. Instead, there is something wrong with firmware and driver on the surface.

I purchased a brand new type cover last weekend and it didn't work either.

Last night, I took the type cover away from my surface pro 4 and left aside for a night. This morning, I put it back on for the purpose of screen protection. BIG SURPRISE, it's back working! I don't know what happened - so weird. I am typing the post right now using it. Hopefully it will last.

It stopped working in the afternoon after I put it in hibernation for about 1 hour. Sigh......

same here the keyboard just died suddenly after update.

also did anyone has the issue with the battery draining even after shut down? only leaving it overnight will completely drain the battery from full charge. This wasnt happening before as well.

cmon microsoft its obviously an update issue. please fix!!! unless you tell us you bricked our hardware then you should replace us the hardware!

It isn't the typecover. You will find that it works fine on someone else's

Surface. Something is happening during the update process (and not any specific

update, it can happen at ay time apparently) that causes this issue on the SP4

itself. I don't have a fix. And Microsoft won't acknowledge the issue.
