Surface Pro 4 type cover suddenly not working.

I don't know what happened. I turned my Surface Pro 4 on the other day and the type cover is dead. No lights. No response. No indication that it's working at all.  I rarely take my surface anywhere. 

This started on July 9th 2018. My system information is below. I've gone through all of the steps in the "Troubleshoot your Surface Type Cover or keyboard" page. I've tried to manually download and install the latest firmware and drivers from the "Download firmware and drivers for surface" page. I picked SurfacePro4_Win10_16299_1801701_1.msi. My device manager does not show the "Surface Touch Cover Filter Device" under keyboards or anywhere. It only shows the HID keyboard and cannot detect my type cover. The type cover is completely unresponsive. Also, my windows updates are completely up to date. I've provided the links to the troubleshooting pages I used below.

    this solved the problem with my surface pro 4:

    1. I disconnected the type cover from the surface pro 4 and left it without power connection through the night.
    2. I disconnected the surface pro from the electricity and didn't charge the battery through the night.
    3. surprise- In the morning when I connected the type cover to the surface and the surface to electricity the type cover worked. ( and it still working)

    I hope that it will help everyone with the type cover problem.

    You are absolutely right.

    Microsoft should solve this problem. 

    Its software problem relating surface pro 4 .

    i saw a windows update today for my surface and hoped it will fix the problem but not.  Another windows update and type cover still not functional.  

    I'm down for any petition regarding this matter. Microsoft just broke our machines and not fixing it!!

    mine does not work after update. it worked on my another surface , though. therefore, it cannot be hardware issue. microsoft should be sued for this.

    Mine shows working properly on both Keyboards and HIDs in Device Manager. It also shows under Windows 10 settings/devices. 

    I also found the touchpad works in UEFI, but not the keyboard keys. This must be something about firmware/driver. Is it possible that microsoft did it purposely like Apple did for iPhone6? Because all our surface devices are in their database and we all conntect with it every day.
