Surface Pro 4 type cover suddenly not working.

I don't know what happened. I turned my Surface Pro 4 on the other day and the type cover is dead. No lights. No response. No indication that it's working at all.  I rarely take my surface anywhere.

This started on July 9th 2018. My system information is below. I've gone through all of the steps in the "Troubleshoot your Surface Type Cover or keyboard" page. I've tried to manually download and install the latest firmware and drivers from the "Download firmware and drivers for surface" page. I picked SurfacePro4_Win10_16299_1801701_1.msi. My device manager does not show the "Surface Touch Cover Filter Device" under keyboards or anywhere. It only shows the HID keyboard and cannot detect my type cover. The type cover is completely unresponsive. Also, my windows updates are completely up to date. I've provided the links to the troubleshooting pages I used below.

I will be contacting MS Support tomorrow, will keep you updated.

PS: this is not the first time I am experiencing problems with Surface Pro 4 caused by Windows 10 Update (blurry screen in the past). Back then, my device being under warranty, I could exchange it for free. I am wondering what their answer and support will be like if not the case anymore.

I've done the same tests, tried everything. And after reading this site and its replies, we know its a microsoft issue. A friend of mine a has a Surface Pro 3, with one issue, his "ø-key" for us in Norway, or the ":/;" key in the UK. The same key will not allow a single press, but if you hold it, it will not type the first letter but the continues letters.

I have also tested his keyboard on my SP4 with no success. In the Surface UEFI and the windows recovery mode, everything works perfectly.

And for no reason at all, if I try and use my Surface Cover, the machine goes into BlueScreen with the error code:

     - KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE
