Word doesn't let me choose the voice for the Read Aloud, saying that I need to log in but I am already logged in.

Every time I try to use the "Read Aloud" function, I get this exact error:

"To choose what voice you hear while using Read Aloud, sign in with your Microsoft account."

It worked fine until two weeks ago (the last time I used it) and I have tried every single thing in every thread: I reinstalled the apps, logged out and in, "repair online", reinstalled the english langague packs on my computer, used safe mode, turned on the optional experience, rebooted my pc, and it still doesn't work. I am out of options.

Last time, it was apparently due to a windows update, and yesterday I did update my windows, but I don't see anyone talking about it, so I don't know, please help.

Mine is up and running!!!! 8:30 PM EDT

Evidently today's update set it back in order.

After nearly 5 days of frustration, thank you MS for the fix.

This is a significant degradation of service, considering we now have to rent Word and can't rely on the version installed on a hard drive. I do have the option to toggle between three voices -- "David," "Zira," and "Mark" -- but all three are highly robotic and have no cadence or nuance. The whole point of Read Aloud was to check if my written words possessed a natural flow when spoken, but what these three "voices" provide is an electric buzz that is unpleasant to the ear.

I'm getting exactly the same issue, only this was the first time trying to use the feature!

This is the summary of my issue:

Read Aloud displays the following error:

To choose what voice you hear while using Read Aloud, sign in with your Microsoft Account

It seems dependent on the following setting:

Connected Experiences > Turn on experiences that analyse your content

If this is ticked the error occurs.

    If not it doesn't

If it is unticked, Read Aloud does not allow selection of natural voices, only the default three (George, Hazel, Susan)

    Notes:

I have repaired Microsoft 365 (both quick fix and online full fix).

Windows Updates - all up to date.

Natural Voices - downloaded via Windows settings
