Word doesn't let me choose the voice for the Read Aloud, saying that I need to log in but I am already logged in.

Every time I try to use the "Read Aloud" function, I get this exact error:

"To choose what voice you hear while using Read Aloud, sign in with your Microsoft account."

It worked fine until two weeks ago (the last time I used it) and I have tried every single thing in every thread: I reinstalled the apps, logged out and in, "repair online", reinstalled the english langague packs on my computer, used safe mode, turned on the optional experience, rebooted my pc, and it still doesn't work. I am out of options.

Last time, it was apparently due to a windows update, and yesterday I did update my windows, but I don't see anyone talking about it, so I don't know, please help.

Mine is up and running!!!! 8:30 PM EDT

Evidently today's update set it back in order.

After nearly 5 days of frustration, thank you MS for the fix.

    Hi,

I'm a Microsoft office 365 subscriber, who relies on Word's read aloud function to help me proofread my writing.

One of the reasons I've subscribed is to hear my work read by the usually articulate male and female voices that are part of Word itself.

Unfortunately, this function seems to be extremely unreliable and the male and female voices often disappear, being replaced by the horribly robotic default voices (George, Hazel and Susan) used by Windows 11 Speech, which are excruciating to listen to in comparison.

I've tried repairing and reinstalling my package, but to no avail, furthermore, many other people seem to be experiencing the same problems, whilst been given no real solution, with nothing but lip service being paid to this issue.

I would like to know what's been done about this, as it seems to have been an ongoing issue that's been reoccurring since 2022 and quite frankly, I've been without this important facility for 3 days now.  It’s not great customer service, is it?

Same issue occurs for me on the desktop app and on IOS. This has happened before many times on my iphone and was annoying but would typically fix itself after closing and reopening the app, but as of an hour ago, it immediately gives the sign in error message on the desktop and phone. This is literally the only reason I pay for Microsoft so I can proofread my work, so I hope it gets addressed asap.
