I have suddenly lost the sync function to 2 important shared folders (ones shared with other people) My other folders and files (not shared) are fine. How can I fix it? For some reason, the folders have been sent to my recycle bin, but I cannot restore them.

Not really. I received an email from Microsoft asking for more information about my issues. That was yesterday, and I'm waiting to see what they come up with. I did find a response reading through some reddit threads. I tried the mapping network drive, and it worked once last night, but it stopped working when I restarted this morning. Maybe that's a clue... Here is the response:

"It sounds like you're experiencing an issue where your OneDrive shared files are no longer appearing in your File Manager. This is a known problem that has been affecting some users since mid-2024

Here are a few steps you can try to resolve this issue:

    1. Access OneDrive via Web: You can still access your shared files by logging into OneDrive online. This might not be as convenient, but it ensures you can still reach your files.
    2. Add Shortcut to My Files: Go to the shared folder in OneDrive online, and use the "Add shortcut to My files" option. This might help in making the shared files appear in your local OneDrive folder
    3. Map Network Drive: You can map your OneDrive as a network drive. Here’s how:
      • Open File Explorer and right-click on "This PC".
      • Select "Map network drive".
      • In the Folder field, enter the path \\d.docs.live.net@SSL\your_CID_code (replace your_CID_code with your actual CID code from the OneDrive URL).
      • Follow the prompts to complete the setup

If these steps don't resolve the issue, it might be best to keep an eye on updates from Microsoft, as they are aware of the problem and working on a fix."

I have been having a similar problem. The shared folder has been replaced by a shortcut and then copied under a local name to each device that previously shared it. These copied folders are then duplicated across each device. It is a total mess. Microsoft is seriously failing its paying customers. It is indicative of poor testing, poor response, and poor customer service. Pull your finger out, Microsoft.

Our company got hugely affected by this as well and we are now 2 weeks waiting for a fix.
Not a single answer from Microsoft shows that this is intended, thank you to give us another reason to change to Google Workspace.

This problem started 10 days back in one of the pcs sharing the Microsoft Office Home subscription.

5 days later, it spread like a virus to rest 2 machines.

It exists on Win 11 Home as well as Win 10 Home.

If someone can pinpoint which exact update caused this bug, can atleast try to uninstall it.
