One Drive folders changed to Internet Shortcuts - FOR THE SECOND TIME!!!

In June 2024, my shared One Drive folders changed to Internet Shortcuts. Despite trying any suggestions we could find, and hearing nothing but canned responses from MicroSoft, we opted to spend a weekend changing to a new email address / MicroSoft / One Drive account after 6 months of frustration.
Today, that new account once again changed my One Drive folders to Internet shortcuts. Besides going through the entire new email address process again, have I missed any workarounds for this?

2025-03-17T19:19:39+00:00 I don't know if this will work for others, but I stumbled across a solution since I just had this experience. I found all my folders in my recycle bin. I never put them there but for some reason they were there. I clicked "restore" and that fixed it all.
Most of our folders that disappeared and showed as internet shortcuts, were in the recycle bin. Restoring them sort of resolved the issue as upon restoration from recycle bin, the folders & files were restored but were renamed with the new name using the computer's name at the end. The renaming was because of the existing internet shortcuts with same name. Deleted the internet shortcuts and renamed the restored folders to their original names. There still some folders missing that are still internet shortcuts though.

2025-03-12T14:21:54+00:00 What I don't understand is why no one from Microsoft is communicating on this issue and providing a date by which the issue will be resolved. If it's not going to be fixed then I will be forced to look at alternatives (iCloud being the obvious one for me) as I can't work with the current set up.
MICROSOFT what have you got to say????

2025-03-11T23:00:53+00:00 I have been fighting the same issue on our Win10 and Win11 computers this week. It started with a complete resync of OneDrive files over the weekend.
However, it only affects my personal/family account - my business OneDrive account on the same computer is not affected thank goodness. Perhaps it is due to the OneDrive version running on that server end?
