OneDrive shared folders showing up as URL links and not actual folders

Hi,

When will this problem be fixed? It has been unresolved for nearly two months now.

Issue

Some OneDrive shared folders shortcuts located in your My Files folder may show up as .url internet shortcuts instead of actual folders.

If I try to open the folder shortcut, it opens as a webpage instead of a folder.

Best Regards ,

Blanchi Dabre

Microsoft: Is there an ETA on this fix?

We have moved to iCloud Drive and Dropbox and it these Apps are working well for their specific use cases.

The shared folders in OneDrive are still showing up as internet links.

You also can't create a short cut in the local file structure from the web interface. We receive error: "1 shortcut wasn't added"

This is using macOS Sequoia 15.4 and Onedrive 25.046.0310

FYI: I have also checked with my old company and they are being affected by this bug as well approx 10,000 users (Mac/PC). Not sure the percentage experiencing the issue, but lead tech said "its an issue" and its on his radar.

    Mia/Microsoft,

Is there an ETA of when it is expected to be fixed? after going through the comments, it seems this has been YEARS. It is 4/7/2025, how has there been no update to this? Has anyone on this chat tried Google Drive? how is it working for you?

    Hello, Blanchi

Thank you for raising your concerns in the Microsoft Community.

We are aware of the problem and are working to solve it. The URL files will automatically be converted back to folders when the issue is resolved. For now, we recommend accessing shared folders that are in this state in OneDrive.com.

    Please see this information here:

    Best regards,

    Hello,

When will this issue be resolved? Shared folders in my local Onedrive folder still show up as "folder_name.url" instead of an actual folder. This extremely hampers our work flow.

This is still not working on Onedrive v 25.046.0310 on macOS Sequoia 15.4 on my MacBook Air OR my wife's MacBook Air.

Our current work around is to migrate data to iCloud, but we are paying for MS 365 subscriptions.

    Please advise on status.

    Thanks,

    Russell Irwin.

PS. Please see Microsoft's response below to my trouble ticket from last month.
