Microsoft Translator Not Translating

Using Translator in a group conversational setting for my ELD (English Language Development) class. Students can join the conversation session, but after the first few words are translated into their chosen language, the transcript stops translating and only shows English/English. I am using Lenovo ThinkPad, students are on Chromebooks.

Additionally, for some reason, when students join the session but have to leave to refresh the page or internet connections, the session still recognizes them as in the session. Still, they cannot rejoin or access the conversation.

We have restarted computer systems, tabs, windows, and the app. We have also started new sessions. The issues began on Thursday, 8/15/24.

    Excellent! Thanks!

It's a bit of a pain to only use the browser but at least that's something.

    Hi all,

not sure if Microsoft fixed something or if it was like this previously. I realised that if the person joins from the browser, their speech is being translated normally.

    Did anyone experience that?

    Cheers

I tried the browser again, and it worked for translating between English and Spanish - preliminarily, only tested a few minutes. I will update again after hosting a multi-hour session.

Yes we are having better luck now although not finding it 100 percent reliable. Still crashes at certain times of day.

After a fantastic Christmas holiday, I tested the translator app again.

And how disappointing it is to experience that Microsoft has not yet succeeded in addressing the issues mentioned. Not least because the app has previously shown that it can help solve language challenges in education and learning.
