Microsoft Translator Not Translating

Using Translator in a group conversational setting for my ELD (English Language Development) class. Students can join the conversation session, but after the first few words are translated into their chosen language, the transcript stops translating and only shows English/English. I am using Lenovo ThinkPad, students are on Chromebooks.

Additionally, for some reason, when students join the session but have to leave to refresh the page or internet connections, the session still recognizes them as in the session. Still, they cannot rejoin or access the conversation.

We have restarted computer systems, tabs, windows, and the app. We have also started new sessions. The issues began on Thursday, 8/15/24.

    Greetings!

Any update about this issue? It's November 17, 2024, and this translation issue still seems to be a problem.

I am assisting a Spanish-speaking church, and I use Microsoft Translator to communicate from English to Spanish, and vice versa. However, now, instead of translating to English, it is only showing everything in Spanish – even though I have my language as English.

Below is an example. It was working great before, but now, is not working at all. I would welcome any advice about addressing and fixing this problem.

    Best,

    • EA

Ps. Well, I tried to upload an image, but I keep getting a "failed to upload" message – irrespective of the image being a .jpg or .png format. Below is the transcript of what I was going to upload:

Spanish computer: "Bienvenida a la casa de Dios"

English computer: "Bienvenida a la casa de Dios" <-- Showing this instead of translating to English

Again, any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

I am a Microsoft Global Partner and have been pestering the Translator team about this since the summer as converse mode worked beautifully for us all of last year.

Right now I am finding the best workflow is start a session on Android app (phone or chromebook) and then join on web.

Curious as to what your experiences are now, as of mid October?

We are not using the teams app. We are having problems on all types of devices - chromebooks, macs, pc's, (via the website), ipads, iphones, and android devices (via the app). The two main problems are that when in a conversation, the dialogue is not translated (even though the correct language has been selected) OR participants cannot get into a conversation - the circle just spins and spins. The first problem can sometimes be solved by leaving the conversation and returning, but the second problem is happening more and more frequently and we have NOT found a solution. (Please see the images uploaded by another user below.) We are working with groups of about 5-15 participants. We have tried refreshing the browser, clearing history - cache & cookies, restarting the devices, updating the devices, and even "powerwashing" the chromebooks but have not found anything that solves the problem of not being able to get into the conversation.
