How to disable copilot on microsoft office (excel, word, ppt) on Macbook

I am using a Macbook Air, last week I tried the free trial of the copilot, but since I don't find it helpful, and even my word keeps on lagging, now I want to disable the copilot.

I have already tried to uninstall and reinstall Microsoft 365, and several tips on the internet, but none of them is working. The copilot is still there. and I find it so annoying.

Can someone help me to show me the way to disable the copilot, please?

    Microsoft service has deteriorated immensely. They no longer seem to care about their customers, only about their profits. This is yet another case of Microsoft getting the better of you by changing its plans, names, and subscriptions at will. They have closed down Skype, which enabled you to make phone calls, and replaced it with Teams, which, of course, does not, unless you have a Business subscription. They will do anything and everything to get more money out of us to increase their profits and give us less service to cut their expenses.

    Your steps for disabling Copilot DO NOT WORK. As attested by all the other comments on this page. Fix the problem!!

    Yes, that turns off the Copilot UI in Word, as stated upthread. No such option in Excel, OneNote, Outlook, or PowerPoint though.

    Thank you, your google-fu is strong! That worked for me. The Copilot icon is still up at the end of the toolbar, but the super annoying floating symbol on each line you move the cursor over is gone.

    Edit: this apparently did not work. For some reason it was gone initially, but it's now back. I turned off the settings through the various instructions here and here, but the copilot stuff is still showing - infuriatingly the outlined icon is on the page and the coloured one is in the toolbar.

    Hello Hannah,

    I have tried every advice I have found on Google to disable Copilot! The free version appears in my account under Services and Subscriptions as per screenshot. I cannot find anything enabling me to disable it here and it does not show in my Taskbar either. I have disabled i.e. "enabled" in "Turn of Copilot". No luck, it still pops up.

    The icon still appears in documents like Word etc. and is driving me crazy!

    Kindly advise.
