How to disable copilot on microsoft office (excel, word, ppt) on Macbook

Don't keep paying for AI to steal your data and graphically invade your documents (with icons and prompts). If you only "turn off" copilot but stay with your current sub or the 'classic' version of your sub, you are still paying for the unsolicited AI infestation and supporting it.

I have now cancelled my annual sub / turned off recurring billing, and while that's VERY inconvenient for me, I won't contribute to the unethical use of my work.

Via complicit silence and a fatalistic attitude, e.g., "you can't escape AI so why bother trying", and via continued payments, people are enabling unethical practices. Putting self-interested convenience first, is what got America into the incredible mess it's now in.

The instructions only work on Word. They do not work in Excel or Powerpoint. At this point there is NO WAY to remove it from anything but Word.

Please people do not complain to the other users about how the instructions don't work. They do not want for Microsoft. They are just frustrated users like everyone else.

No one from Microsoft is bothering to respond to our concerns. But keep documenting them without blaming other users for it not being fixed.

Ditto: Microsoft is once more forcing unwanted apps and features on us. Shame on Microsoft.

I understand that you want to disable copilot in Microsoft Office applications after trying it and feeling that it affects word loading speed. Copilot is a new feature which is designed to provide users with smarter and more personalized assistive functions through Artificial Intelligence technology that provides users with smarter, more personalized assistance functions that increase productivity and creativity. However, if you don't need this feature after trying it out and still want to disable copilot you can do so by following the instructions below:

• log in to Microsoft account | Services & subscriptions
• click on your Services & Subscriptions on the left navigation bar (below)
• find copilot on the right side of the page and disable it.

Dear Hannah,

Your advice is wrong and/or outdated. No such option appears where you say it does.

Also, the alternative advice to turn off Connected Experiences also not help. In Excel, the Copilot UI features remain, the only difference is that they now pop up the advice to turn Connected Experiences back on.

For all others: There may be some light on the horizon. In Word, in Options, an actual option to turn off Copilot has been added. This does indeed disable Copilot functions, it seems. M$ claims that this option will be added to other Office apps over the course of February. I rooting for OneNote in particular, as Copilot is particularly overbearing there.
