Update error code 30088-27 Office 2021 what to do to get corrected????

Hi all,

I have been in touch with Microsoft Support with regard this error.

The error happens to me when I go; File, Office Account, Update Options, Update Now.

The same old, Something went wrong, error code: 30088-27, comes up. Has done for over a month...

First level support told me that Microsoft has "STOPPED UPDATE" for Office Pro Plus 2021. They said the software will receive no more updates.

Now I understand that the layout look and feel will no longer be updated and the functionality will remain as is, and indeed all the apps in the suite work fine.

I use Outlook, with 5 different email accounts onboard. I have sensitive client information as well as personal information in outlook.

I am the, "Data Controller", for our small business in terms of the, Data Protection Act. If I cannot be sure that the software is secure then I should not use it. I am breaching the terms of the Data Protection Act!

This in effect makes the Microsoft Office Suite redundant!

When I queried about the security update side of the office suite, the first level support representative said he will need to escalate my case to level two support.

Level two support called on the phone within the hour.

The level two support representative could also not give me any answers other than advising the same as the first level support, and said he would escalate the case to the level three support team!

I told both level one and two that the, Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2021 Suite, under the terms of the licence agreement, was to be supported for 5 years until, 13 October 2026.

Microsoft is in breach of contract, and I wish to receive a full refund of the full purchase cost or an other suitable remedy.

I note the representative at one point breezed over and said it was because, Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2024 is due to launch soon.

Ok I said, please send me a licence or CD-ROM with licence for the 2024 suite. I never received an answer!

I now await contact from level three support.

What a sham! Windows and Office used to be good, now ruined...

There are a lot of people spending a lot of time trying to work out what is going on.

It is well past time that someone from Microsoft chimed in to update us on what exactly is going on and when the issue is going to be fixed.

If a fix is going to take a while then a workaround to address the update errors would be appreciated by us all.

I understand that shlt happens sometimes and I'm sure they'll fix it.

It's the completely unprofessional reaction and response that really burns my azz. By now there there should be a full and complete webpage keeping customers abreast of the progress and apologizing. Instead we get guesses and silence. {shakes head}

Is this Microsoft or Bob's Discount Software?

You need to get off your butts, update us, and fix this Microsoft. It has been over a month and no word. You should be embarrassed

One thing to note is that in "About Excel/Word" the correct version is listed (16.0.17726.20160), BUT when clicking "About Excel/Word" the popup window shows an older version (16.0.17726.20078). Perhaps this is the culprit of the problem.

Good catch. I missed that on mine, but it is the same in Word, Excel and Outlook. I need to check the registry to see if it has something there.

Just checked. The registry shows the correct version. You may have stumbled onto something here. Hope someone with knowledge is reading this stuff.
