Hi. I had some folders shared from different users in my OneDrive account. I had added the folders to my OneDrive with Add Shortcut to OneDrive button from Shared folders in cloud. The account is logged into a windows pc and every files including the folders shared with my were syncing fine until yesterday. Yesterday night the shared folders were completely removed from the Windows pc and folders are replaced with internet shortcut. This is such a big mess. I have tried unlinking the account and linking it back, changing the location of OneDrive on my windows pc and tried to get a new folder shared to my account and adding it to OneDrive. Nothing works so far. OneDrive has a big part in my daily activities. Please help me resolve this.

Here is the statement from the Microsoft OneDrive product group (Redmond USA) about the OneDrive Personal problem:

***This is related to a backend migration we are doing and unfortunately, we don’t fully support syncing shared folders in the case where one user has migrated and the other has not. We’re doing everything possible to accelerate things so that it can be resolved as soon as possible for users of the feature. When the accounts are migrated, there is automated logic that makes them go back to a syncing folder within several days.***I have heard, that shared Folder issue is gone.
The best thing is: WAIT and do nothing

As of this morning, my own OneDrive, and at least one of my family drives are now back to normal behaviour. I'll check with the rest of my family later.

I presume this means I've been "migrated".

I had to resolve the issue without waiting for MS to migrate our other accounts over. This FIXED our issue, but is a slow process if you're willing to wait. I used an external HD and downloaded all the files that I wanted to keep, which was around 750GB, we have 1000mb internet so I have been working on it all day. If you try to do multiple files at once, it will download them as a zip and it goes REALLY SLOW for some reason, so I just right clicked and downloaded each file individually.

Once all the files were finished downloading, I just let it run until the evening, I double checked that everything was there. Thankfully it's mostly video files so it wasn't thousands of files and was easy to check. I then created a new account with a new email address and removed the other user from the family and added this one. I probably should have created the new account first to make sure it was on the new system, but I was just assuming it would be, and it was. I created a folder and shared it and in my onedrive I added the shared folder to my other onedrive, and the folder appeared on my computer instead of a link.

Now the process would be to upload everything back into this folder, whatever you want to keep in onedrive.

A lengthy and time consuming alternative, but it does work and was what we needed and were willing to do. One account did switch over a few days ago, so they ARE working on switching their servers over. It seems to me like they are doing it over the process of a year to update their servers, so you never know how long it might be. We have one account left that needs switched, but we are going to wait and see on that one as it isn't a huge deal.

You DO have options though. Thanks to everyone who helped solve and figure out what the actual issue was. I would have been so frustrated without this thread. And I did email MS support and they told me we just have to wait, and no ETA. So if you want (or need) to take matters into your own hands, do it this way.

FYI I sent a comment to the blog post mentioned before (from Hans Brender who works on OneDrive). It's being moderated now but I hope it will bring some light to our issue (I doubt it will since no one cared since last June but anyway...), or at least allow them to INFORM their users - which is something Hans Brender wrote as a requirement btw. If this is indeed related.

The account that created the share is old, and the account that was granted access is new.

Are you saying that the issue will be resolved if both accounts are new?
