Hi. I had some folders shared from different users in my OneDrive account. I had added the folders to my OneDrive with Add Shortcut to OneDrive button from Shared folders in cloud. The account is logged into a windows pc and every files including the folders shared with my were syncing fine until yesterday. Yesterday night the shared folders were completely removed from the Windows pc and folders are replaced with internet shortcut. This is such a big mess. I have tried unlinking the account and linking it back, changing the location of OneDrive on my windows pc and tried to get a new folder shared to my account and adding it to OneDrive. Nothing works so far. OneDrive has a big part in my daily activities. Please help me resolve this.

Here is the statement from the Microsoft OneDrive product group (Redmond USA) about the OneDrive Personal problem:

***This is related to a backend migration we are doing and unfortunately, we don’t fully support syncing shared folders in the case where one user has migrated and the other has not. We’re doing everything possible to accelerate things so that it can be resolved as soon as possible for users of the feature. When the accounts are migrated, there is automated logic that makes them go back to a syncing folder within several days.***I have heard, that shared Folder issue is gone.
The best thing is: WAIT and do nothing

We have 6 accounts under the same Microsoft 365 Family subscription and have this problem since the end of February (around 2 weeks).

The time I first noticed this, the accounts were "old" and "new" versions mixed. By now, all the accounts are without the "Search" filed, so "something" definitely happened. However, this has nothing to do with our shared folders. The first url files I have deleted and tried resharing the folders. Now there's not even the url files downloaded, we can only see the shared folders online under the "Shared" menu.

One more thing I noticed and that I haven't read so far here. There are still differences in our 6 accounts. The "main blue upload button" has 3 different names in our families and those have not changed over the course at all, regardless of the "old" or "new" status of the accounts. Has anyone experienced this? Does the actual "version" of OneDrive have to anything with this?

Nevertheless, I'm on the opinion of others that suggest that Microsoft is not working on getting us back to the original working of the shared folders. It seems more and more likely that they are rolling out something new and forcing us to work and be "more online". It is also quite understandable according to what our world is tending towards...

The question is, can we do something about it? Are we enough people here to affect this and what someone already asked, are there any lawyers here who knows what are possibilities are?

Thaks for everyone participating in this thread!!!

Unbelievable indeed. I was using Onedrive for 2 years without any problems and now 1 of my family accounts has this issue. No fix from Microsoft. Obviously opening the folder in a browser defeats the whole purpose of the OneDrive app. That is why I bought OneDrive in the first place. Maybe I will go back to Dropbox or other solutions....

    Hi JJSV,

I appreciate you pointing out the difference of the online versions. It explains a lot.
