Folders Shared with me are syncing as internet shortcut in OneDrive on Windows PC

This is unacceptable! I pay a lot of money every year for the office to shared the ENTIRE server folders throughout remote computers in various parts of the world. I am the founder/creator of all folders accounts. I have always had access to the SHARED folders in my FILE EXPLORER. Now, after OneDrive app apparently REDOWNLOADED itself without my consent in February 2025 (seems around 20 or 26) I completely lost the shared folders from File Explorer.

It started with not seeing any document inside each subfolders, then gradually the subfolders themselves disappeared and lastly the main outside folders disappeared. After hours of looking around and attempting various troubleshooting:

the shared folders are still existing and accessible on the browser onedrive.com but it is NOT practical nor functional to work as such for the amount and sizes of the files

the option ADD TO MY FILES for the shared folder is no longer there

when I attempt to ADD SHORTCUT TO MY FILES (only option now available) error says shortcut already exists

I found the 'shortcuts' at the very bottom of the PERSONAL onedrive folder but only as URL - LINKS which is completely USELESS

Since it seems that Microsoft is unable to give a reasonable answer as to why this happened and how to fix it, and since it is OBVIOUS that this is due to the update/new version of Onedrive and thus it is Microsoft's fault and responsibility, I have no intention to 'wait' for them to investigate and fix the issue, I want to revert back to the previous version of ONEDRIVE, with no updates etc. WITHOUT losing any file nor having to BACKUP!!

Subscription cancelled, this problem being reported so long ago and not being fixed in so long is the final straw for me.

Yesterday, I tried to access my OneDrive desktop app, and suddenly the shared folders became links to the web version of OneDrive instead of being available locally. I have been working this way for the past three years, and without any change on my part, they turned into links.

I have tried to remove the app and disconnect it a few times, but nothing helps. I couldn't find any guide or solution to my issue. This situation is preventing me from working efficiently.

Could you please assist me in resolving this issue?

Same issue has cropped up on 27/02/2025, in my pc, the Shared folders by others which otherwise were downloaded on my pc and had been working well for many years, suddenly became invisible, so i went online, and there also they were not visible on MY FILES, i went to shared option and again used option ADD SHORTCUT TO MY FILES but message was "SHORT CUT ALREADY THERE", so i again went to MY FILES, the shared folders were still not visible, so i used search option when typing names of the these folders, i could see them on search results, and location MY FILES( while on normal viewing these were not visible some kind bug has come on web onedrive also) So as a work around i deleted these folders shortcut and went back to SHARED window and again used option ADD SHORTCUT TO MY FILES this worked the shared folders were visible in MY FILES.

However these shared folders did not appear on my pc as a folder but only as a internet link. I have tried everything, including uninstalling drive etc, still no help,

I am amazed that this problem has been going for some users but still microsoft has not been able to resolve the issue, Seriously thinking of changing cloud provider
