Hi. I had some folders shared from different users in my OneDrive account. I had added the folders to my OneDrive with Add Shortcut to OneDrive button from Shared folders in cloud. The account is logged into a windows pc and every files including the folders shared with my were syncing fine until yesterday. Yesterday night the shared folders were completely removed from the Windows pc and folders are replaced with internet shortcut. This is such a big mess. I have tried unlinking the account and linking it back, changing the location of OneDrive on my windows pc and tried to get a new folder shared to my account and adding it to OneDrive. Nothing works so far. OneDrive has a big part in my daily activities. Please help me resolve this.

Here is the statement from the Microsoft OneDrive product group (Redmond USA) about the OneDrive Personal problem:

***This is related to a backend migration we are doing and unfortunately, we don’t fully support syncing shared folders in the case where one user has migrated and the other has not. We’re doing everything possible to accelerate things so that it can be resolved as soon as possible for users of the feature. When the accounts are migrated, there is automated logic that makes them go back to a syncing folder within several days.***I have heard, that shared Folder issue is gone.
The best thing is: WAIT and do nothing

How is this issue still not resolved? A Microsoft OneDrive compatibility issue with Microsoft File Explorer running on Microsoft Windows? Do they not have computer programmers at Microsoft anymore? Ridiculous...guess I'm consolidating all my file storage on Google Drive (currently using Google Drive for business, OneDrive for personal)...which ironically syncs/works just fine with Microsoft File Explorer on Microsoft Windows...

The fact this has persisted for as long as it has and their response to my support email tells me they have absolutely no inclination to fix it. Is it some kind of IT beef between windows and microsoft? Is this for an angle to slowly get more people to use the weblink? I've never heard of an issue persisting for this long and there not being more effort to fix it.

I've said this before, that although the errors, bugs or whatever they're called, affect the desktop, they are not apparent within the mobile Onedrive app. It works as it should and did three months ago within the Onedrive application on a desktop. ie, it does not open a browser!

So if it still works within the mobile app why can't Microsoft get it to work again on a desktop and why did it happen in the first place?

Also, I've noticed, contrary to previous comments, that if a shared file is opened via the browser (or the local app), it is still saved back to the shared folder. Not satisfactory,but...

    - "The issue only affects paid accounts, the feature never broke and still works fine on free accounts"

Where did you get this information? I use both, a free (personal) and a paid (my company) accounts and both are broken 6, 7 months now. And it's not just a cosmetic issue, I had to change the way I manage my files, cause my company has no intention to change the whole system for now.
