Hi. I had some folders shared from different users in my OneDrive account. I had added the folders to my OneDrive with Add Shortcut to OneDrive button from Shared folders in cloud. The account is logged into a windows pc and every files including the folders shared with my were syncing fine until yesterday. Yesterday night the shared folders were completely removed from the Windows pc and folders are replaced with internet shortcut. This is such a big mess. I have tried unlinking the account and linking it back, changing the location of OneDrive on my windows pc and tried to get a new folder shared to my account and adding it to OneDrive. Nothing works so far. OneDrive has a big part in my daily activities. Please help me resolve this.

Here is the statement from the Microsoft OneDrive product group (Redmond USA) about the OneDrive Personal problem:

***This is related to a backend migration we are doing and unfortunately, we don’t fully support syncing shared folders in the case where one user has migrated and the other has not. We’re doing everything possible to accelerate things so that it can be resolved as soon as possible for users of the feature. When the accounts are migrated, there is automated logic that makes them go back to a syncing folder within several days.***I have heard, that shared Folder issue is gone.
The best thing is: WAIT and do nothing

Same problem on mac! I can't access the folder or find it on the website, the only way is by clicking on the URL file that replaced the local folder.

Thanks for you tips, we are using Microsoft 365 family plan and have almost 2TB of data between the accounts, much of the data only available online (using smaller SSD's) and we really need to use the Microsoft Office apps for school / work.

So, unfortunately WPS Office, Libre Office, Google WorkSpace or others won't work for us right now - just the thought of having to migrate all the data is a big headache!!

Microsoft 365 family is a great plan for us, although we didn't liked the increased price, but this issue is somewhat making me loose trust on OneDrive, that we've been depending for years now, without any major issue.

I'll wait a while to a possible fix - maybe the increased pressure make's Microsoft fix this more quickly, but the thought that is happening since 06/2024 doesn't help either 🙁

Just checked that Microsoft updated the "Add and sync shared folders to OneDrive for home" (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/add-and-sync-shared-folders-to-onedrive-for-home-8a63cd47-1526-4cd8-bd09-ee3f9bfc1504) with the issue "OneDrive shared folders shortcuts showing up as Internet Shortcuts" at 07/2024 - previous to that, there was no mention to the issue!!

    https://web.archive.org/web/20240801000000*/https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/add-and-sync-shared-folders-to-onedrive-for-home-8a63cd47-1526-4cd8-bd09-ee3f9bfc1504

We are waiting since 06/2024 to a fix - unacceptable 🙁

Same issue. The folder that I used daily suddenly became a URL, causing massive disruption. For a paid product, this is unacceptable. Especially since this fix has been a year in the making, with still no resolution.

Hi - also check my post above.

I believe that the shared folders work properly if the sharing is made between accounts that all have "Search" option or all accounts doesn't have the "Search" option.

If sharing folders between accounts that have "Search" option and don't have "Search" option, or vice-versa, then the shared folder becomes a link to OneDive webpage.

I also believe the app versions doesn't have anything to do with the issue.

But why is this happening?? It's something very broken on OneDrive backend that needs to be fixed right now!
