How Do I Get Windows 11 to Stop Saving Everything To OneDrive Folder Location?

Howdy!

I just recently got a new laptop, OS Windows 11, and I was trying to ensure that despite not having OneDrive installed, that things were not saving to it, but...

As I was accessing some files online, I noticed that the location was C:\Users\ADMINUSERNAMEREDACTED\OneDrive for the Documents, Photos, DESKTOP(??why??) and Downloads files.

This error in file-folder path LITERALLY cost me a job opportunity!! I am absolutely beside myself and genuinely bummed about this.

I DO NOT want ANYTHING AT ALL, literally ever, in a OneDrive path.

I have looked for information regarding this, but it is all out of date.

I would like to keep the fancy icons, instead of just the regular file folder icon, if at all possible.

I appreciate any assistance. I can definitely provide information if need be.

Also, I have no idea what kind of "Product" and "App" this qualifies as, so I hope that what I have selected is okay.

    Totally Agree. The windows Updates messed everything up and you cannot uninstall them.

    Plus it defaulted to saving everything on OneDrive without our knowledge causing LACK OF STORAGE and the only option for your email to continue to work is to BUY MORE STORAGE???? Very sketchy dishonest move by Microsoft.

    NO DOCS SAVED TO THE LOCAL PC? - WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?!!

    'SAVE AS' - SHOULD START WITH THE LOCATION OF WHERE THE FILE WAS LAST SAVED - BLOODY OBVIOUS

    MICROSOFT PLEASE EXPIRE AND RESSURECT INTO SOMETHING MORE SENSIBLE.

    NOW, WHERE DO I SEND THE INVOICE FOR THE AGRAGATED 2 HOURS OR SO THAT I'VE SPENT ON THIS STUPID RULE.

    You are not addressing the OP comments. Not talking about Office 365. Not talking about 365 Family trial. Your last sentence is the only relevant part, and is false, as OneDrive is the default new computer save location for any and all files, which is extremely frustrating.

    Just bought a new Windows 11 laptop, experiencing same issues as OP.

    Personally I always uninstall OneDrive as soon as I buy a new laptop. I absolutely hate the everything appears duplicated. I cannot se any attraction in the display at all and find separate hard-drives much easier to manage.
