PowerPoint automatically closes when laptop goes into sleep in windows 11

YES I reported this--thanks for the reminder. Another fault of Microsoft Office is that some programs autosave (like Notes) while others don't (Word, PPT), which unnecessarily complicates the saving process. I wish they would set all programs to save upon closure automatically.

As to making Office programs auto-save, users seem fairly divided about this, and there's logic on both sides. I don't need to explain the reasons for auto-saving to you, of course. But some people want to control when saves happen. For example, if I've just made some huge mistake that accidentally deleted half my presentation, an auto-save just then is the last thing I want. And with my luck, that's exactly when it'd kick in. ;-)

Responding to JerryC'suggestion: "In the meantime (as we all act as beta testers of Windows 11 for Microsoft), in power settings, extend your sleep time to a couple of hours when plugged in, and then save your work at reasonable intervals."

This is an *excellent* idea. Granted, it's just a workaround, but it'll help prevent data loss until MS is able to sort out what's actually causing the problem. From information gathered from the reports we're all submitting when it happens. We ARE all doing that, right folks? ;-)

In addition to this suggestion, don't forget: CTRL+S is your friend. Whenever you've made more changes than you're willing to re-do if anything bad happens, hit CTRL+S to save your work. If you spent ten hours on a presentation, you might lose maybe 30 seconds to regular saves. That beats the heck out of losing the whole ten hours.

Since my upgrade to Windows 11, MS Word, Edge and Outlook all close when the computer goes into sleep mode. I then must contend with recovered unsaved files, reopening tabs and emails, etc. This happens even with brief periods of sleep mode. Is there a fix?

1. What is the version name of your Office 365, is it Microsoft 365 Family/Personal or Business?
2. Is this happening to other Office applications like Word or Excel?
3. With your PowerPoint file, do you have any media graphics like a too much photos or videos?
4. Where do you usually save the file?

I have the same issue. And the detail information is:

1. Family and Student version
2. Only for PPT, not for word or excel
3. There's no big data. Even though it's a new created empty PPT file, it will be shut down after sleep mode
4. Files are saved in D folder
