PowerPoint automatically closes when laptop goes into sleep in windows 11

I am experiencing the EXACT same problem. Whenever I return to my computer from sleep mode - all my PowerPoints and MSWord documents are gone and the programs have self-terminated (closed). This is infuriating, as I have lost critical work. I have run MSOffice for years and never had this problem. I just purchased a new desktop (Dell Insperion) and purchased the MS Office suite in Microsoft 365. I never had this problem before. This appears to be a MAJOR "bug" and one that needs to be addressed by Microsoft ASAP.

A word to the wise....SAVE OFTEN and DO NO allow your system to sit idle for any amount of time or you WILL lose your work.

I have this same problem. I have Microsoft 365. I have lost a couple of PowerPoint presentations because when I stepped away from my laptop without saving the presentation, it was lost when the computer went into sleep mode.

Is there no way to recover the presentation?

I spent over an hour with customer service trying to figure out why my files were disappearing (I've lost at least 4 PPTs to date and significant work) and why they were not autosaving. I didn't realize this was such a widespread, PPT-specific issue.

Microsoft, this is a serious problem. It makes PPT unreliable and I'm going to start using Google Slides instead--there are no surprises there.

If PowerPoint is closing when your computer sleeps or when you close the lid of your laptop, please "Send a Frown" to Microsoft. This will give the developers valuable information that they can use to diagnose (and fix) the problem.

The next you use your computer after it sleeps/hibernates/when you've closed the lid of your laptop and find that PowerPoint has closed itself,

Start PowerPoint

Choose File | Feedback

Click "I Don't Like Something" to get this screen:

Give a brief description of the problem, but be sure to mention that PowerPoint closed unexpectedly when your computer slept/hibernated. There's no real need to add a screenshot, but if you like, include your email in case the developers need to contact you for further information.

Click "Submit"

The MS developers who work on PowerPoint don't follow this forum, but they DO read the complaints sent as suggested on that page.

Reporting/complaining about a problem here, however justified and good for the soul, won't make MS aware of it, and what they're not aware of, they won't devote resources to fixing. So please DO send a frown.
