Is there any way that we can prevent dictate to turn off (or at least extend the time that it stays on) in Word 365? I'd really like for it not to stop listening while I'm thinking about what to say.

Hi I have same problem just automatic turn off Microsoft word after few second when I using the word.

Sorry that is totally incorrect. I am having the exact the same issue as everyone on this thread. I have used Dictate in Word 365 for the last few years and never had an issue. You DO NOT have to be speaking continuously for it to stay on. Your comment is completely inaccurate. It is definitely an issue and not part of the design. I noticed the comments are recent. My computer just updated and I noticed the issue with Dictation shutting off happened after this. The red button goes on but does not type out and shuts off fast. Have a person who actually knows the reason because it is not a design problem!
I too am looking for how to make the dictation work. It cuts off after a second. So disappointing to see the BOT answers in this thread.
Also having the issue of it turning off in the middle of a sentence.
I hadn't used it before today but I know others have and it worked fine for them.
Hoping there is a fix soon!
Another very dissatisfied user. how is it a feature to turn off - mid flow sometimes. I don't see how the 'function' helps anybody, but if it does, then AT LEAST have an option to turn auto-switch off manually so we can write for as long as we want, with as many sips of coffee as we want without the thing turning off. Why MICROSOFT do you have so many bright ideas - that I don't ever need - and basic 21st C ones like this, you deliver, then lose interest in, and finally screw up. Just make the core functions better and better and be responsive to users on the basic core features. If you have spare capacity - make pretty add ons if you like, but make them optional.

As you want to keep Dictate open all-time while convert your thoughts to text. After this whole process, this feature can be turned off. We are sorry that this is a feature limitation for now. Dictate will turn off automatically after a few minutes when you stop talking. We utterly understand how inconvenient this limit is and we apologize for it.
There is another way to raise attention of the related team is to click Smile icon and submit advice. This is the direct way to feedback to the back-end team and your advice may be considered by them. Customer feedback is really important to us.
