Hey guys,
I've been feeling very frustrated about OneDrive:
Ever since I've switched to Catalina on my MBP 15", OneDrive keeps spinning up a bunch of processes called "OneDrive Finder Integration", about 5-6 of them and then Finder goes over 130% along with another system-level process. Needless to say, this kicks up the fans to the full speed and, if running on battery, chews up through so much of the battery. The only other way around this is to pause the app which defeats the whole point of having a "cloud" backup. I've looked around, run a bunch of scripts suggested, uninstalled, reset and then reinstalled the app with no success. Can someone help me with this?
BTW, why can't I check my Preferences (where the version number is accessible) when OneDrive is paused?!!! this is just poor planning as far as I'm concerned!

After 3 years, 4 different kind of Mac, I'm sure: OneDrive is poor designed.
All my Mac having had and have this issue.
The only solution is to install appPolice and put onedrive's CPU usage to 20-50%.

I also experienced high CPU usage, fan noise, and the spinning wheel when accessing the Dock icon Open Folder menu option while running OneDrive version 20.084.0426.0007 on macOS Catalina 10.15.5 on my iMac Pro. Based on guidance from others in this forum, I disabled System Preferences -> Extensions -> OneDrive Finder Extensions and confirmed that this eliminated all of these issues. Unfortunately, I depend on the Finder integration for my workflows, so this was not a long-term solution.
Re-enabling System Preferences -> Extensions -> OneDrive Finder Extensions along with Microsoft OneNote Share Menu (which was previously disabled) seems to have done the trick for me!
**UPDATE:**The change I mentioned above works temporarily for me, but after some time OneDrive starts again with the high CPU usage, fan noise, and the spinning wheel when accessing the Dock icon Open Folder menu option.
I'm primarily a .NET developer. I bought the iMac Pro because it was good hardware for the money and I could run Windows 10 in Parallels and have macOS for personal use and occasional iOS development. Apple is going to make this setup impossible or at least inefficient with Apple Silicon, so I'm just going to build a Windows 10 PC and be done with it!
No but there is movement on my end. I need to switch back to production so they can continue troubleshooting. Are you on production?
Has there been any progress at all with Microsoft on this? This has been a problem now for well over a year and the usual responses involve removing functionality. Numerous people have reported it on numerous forums but we seem to get nowhere. It's like buying a car and being told that you can solve its performance problems by removing its wheels.
Do Microsoft really have any idea what is going on? At what point should Mac Users of OneDrive be seeking some form of compensation for a product that is clearly not fit for purpose.
version doesn’t really matter anymore....if you are on insider builds, tech support asks you to switch to production version....the other way around is also valid...
Seems that support is only buying some time...they also have no idea what is really going on or how to fix it. I’ve sent tech support over 150mb worth of log files and never heard back ...
