I have tried to open a word / excel document.

It says it is updating, please wait a moment.

After a few minutes I get a message saying:

WINWORD.EXE - Application Error - This application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142). Click OK to close the application.

    Hi,

This is my work version, on my office laptop, Office 365 Apps for Enterprise (apps version 2008, Build 13127.21624 Click-to-Run).

Before each issue, MSOffice started an update (popup appears) when launching an app, and then I get the message Application Error - This application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142). Click OK to close the application.

After that, impossible to use any application without rebooting or - faster - killing the OfficeClickToRun.exe process.

I'll try a repair next tuesday. thanks for guidance.

    Regards,

Hi , personnally, it appears once a month, I found a fix by killing - using task manager - OfficeClickToRun.exe, then restarting MSOffice application. Can't explain why it suddenly blocked MSOffice, but it works each time.

Hi All....I used the System File Checker (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/how-to-repair-the-operating-system-and-how-to-restore-the-operating-system-configuration-to-an-earlier-point-in-time-in-windows-vista-a6ace28c-bf65-2ec3-6930-661a387666a5) and it found repairs that seem to have resolved the issue. It has now been a few days, and I think the fix has held up.

So I kept geting this error, updates didnt work, repair online or quick also it came back.

I then went to reinstall office and noticed, I had 2 installs of my office 365 family subscription.

I had reinstalled windows on same machine. So maybe Msoft cant tell the difference as it uses processor id or somthing.

I deactivated the computer name I used before reinstall/rename and then clicked outlook, worked immediately no repair, nothing.

    Guess you can check?
