Copy and Paste Text from OneNote mobile iOS app to the Messages App

Hey everybody!

I would like to update the community if you have not already noticed, I'm not sure if OneNote provided an update, or if it came with the iOS update 13.1 but the copy and paste feature has been fixed!!

Testing with it today if multiple lines of text including hard and soft returns would copy and paste over without converting into an HTML document, and it now pastes as plain text!

I have not tested with rich text or images yet. Plan on doing that later. Will update you then. 

Want to send a big, big thank you to all the support staff and programmers for fixing this feature.

I tried your suggestion and it didn't work. BUT ... it inspired me to go another route, which

—alas!—has solved the riddle. 

Here's the workaround ...

When highlighting copy from OneNote, you're provided five options as a next step: CUT, COPY, SELECT ALL and PASTE. It's in the fifth option—SHARE—where the solution is found. After you’ve highlighted whatever it is that you want to transfer, rather using the COPY or CUT functions, go into the SHARE menu. Here, you'll find icons of all the other apps on your phone, one of which is iMessage. 

Click on the iMessage icon, and you’ll see the blank message box come up with the PASTE option. Then—viola!—drop in your text and hit SEND. 

That’s it. 

While there is more navigation with this process, it’s negligible.

Thanks, Bob.  Apple Support was able to replicate the problem on their end today, so they are going to discuss it with their engineering team.  

I just realized I didn't answer your question about how I can tell whether it is plain text or HTML.  The HTML file is a little icon with the letters "html" on it, and underneath the icon it has a file name in the format "FILE_NNNN.html," where "NNNN" is a different number for each paste.

I wanted to ad that I am having same issue since the same update. I did go into Apple for help and they proved that it is a OneNote issue not being updated for Apples current releases.

If copy and paste from email or EverNote and then past into IOS message app they work just fine.

But use OneNote and get the little icon html. Once you get that the person receiving would have to double click the icon to open and then it’s contents are so small and frustrating to read.

Looking forward to an update from OneNote on this issue.

I am a heavy user of coping notes and pasting so I hope this gets resolved in a timely manner.

We want to know more about the issue you're having with copying and pasting text in HTML format instead of plain text only in OneNote. Please answer the questions below:

• Is this concern happening exclusively to OneNote iOS app and the Message app only or to other iOS apps as well? If it does, which app are those?
• Can you tell us which version of iOS are you using?

I tried replicating your concern and I wasn't able to experience the issue. Can you provide how you were able to determine if it is in HTML format or Plain Text? You can send us a screenshot so that we can have a clear idea of the concern.
