Autosave Option Disabled - Office Mac

All my files are saved on OneDrive folder (which is synced). When I open a word file from my OneDrive folder, the option to AutoSave is disabled and I can see a msg "Saved on your Mac". How is that, if it is on Onedrive and syncing ??? I have, then, to save a new copy, select Save Online, chose the SAME FOLDER, chose another name, and then, the Autosave option is enabled. Does anyone know how to solve it?

I found the autosave function of my office 365 works again today.

I did nothing except keeping my office 365 up to date in "insider slow" channel.

mac OS: 10.15.1

onedrive: 19.222.1110.0004(Standalone)

office 365: 16.33(19120401)

I feel your pain. It's curious that for some of us the issue is resolved and other not, even with the same versions and settings. It's especially frustrating that there is no recourse of action we can take as users to mitigate this problem. I would have been happy to have done some serious under the hood work to resolve this.

There should be some kind of clue that it works consistently for OneDrive for Business but not for Home or Personal. There isn't any way that I'm comfortable using the working "for Business" for data that belongs to me and not my organization's tenant. As an admin, this was the entire reason I pay out of pocket for this SaaS. I'm under no illusion that anything I store in "for Business" belongs to me. It's not my TB of storage. It's my organization's data. It's an unacceptable trade-off for a feature that is so integral to our workflows.

I'd love to hear from MS about what fixed this for me but not for others.

Shame on you Microsoft. I am on the version 16.37 and this feature still not working. What impresses me the most is that I also have Onedrive for Business and it works perfectly, so the problem is not on Apple. The problem is with your Onedrive for personal use. What is not even free for me. I am paying for it and it doesn't work. Shame on you.

Same issue for me... Office365 for Business is managing autosave correctly, but on the same Mac Office365/Onedrive Personal do not allow autosave if I open a file from Finder.
