power point presenter view scrolling from touch screen

Is anyone still looking at this? There has been no response now for several days. I have exactly the same problem and it is occurring on three different devices. One is a Lenovo Carbon X1 laptop, the second is a Microsoft Surface Pro 3 and the third is a Microsoft Surface 3.

What I can tell you is that doing Office Repairs and even uninstalling Office (this is an Office 365 subscription) and reinstalling makes no difference. On all three devices, the ability to scroll the speaker notes by touching and sliding anywhere in the speaker notes no longer works.

It is worse on the two Microsoft Surface devices. On the Lenovo Carbon X1 (fixed keyboard laptop), the scroll bar in the speaker notes is visible and can be used, but with much more difficulty than just scrolling anywhere in the speaker notes. However, on the Surface devices, the scroll bar in the speaker notes is not displayed when there is more text in the speaker notes than can be displayed at once. This means that it is impossible to scroll the speaker notes.

What I have noticed is that if I plug the detachable keyboard into either of the Surface devices, the scroll bar in the speaker notes appears for a moment, but then disappears. Even with the keyboard attached, I cannot scroll the speaker notes.

Something else I have observed is that when I first noticed this problem last week, I could scroll the speaker notes on the first slide shown at the beginning of a presentation (whether it was the first slide in the presentation or if I started the presentation at a later slide). But as soon as I changed slide, I could no longer scroll the speaker notes.

In an attempt to replicate the problem, I created a new blank presentation, added two slides with nothing more than a title and enough text in the speaker notes to require scrolling. However, with this simple presentation, it is not possible to scroll the speaker notes on even the first slide.

I then took the existing presentation and cut it back, removing slides images and theme to get what appears to be an identical presentation to the new one I had created. Just two slides with same slide content and I even copied the speaker notes from the new presentation. I can still scroll speaker notes on the first slide displayed from the cut down version of the existing presentation.

This appears to be a bug that has been introduced in a recent update to office.

I have tried to uninstall and reinstall but this didn’t fix the problem.  Powerpoint still won’t scroll in presenters notes using the touch screen function.

I am having exactly the same problem on a Lenovo Carbon X1 Laptop and a Microsoft Surface 3 tablet. Scrolling of the notes in presenter view using touch screen does not work, except by using the scroll bar. One thing I notice is that when you start the presentation, scrolling of the notes works on the first slide, but as soon as you move to another slide it no longer works. Even when you go back to the first slide, it no longer works. I have tried Office Repairs and there is no difference. I have not uninstalled and reinstalled, as that is a major amount of time required (my Outlook alone has about 20 accounts that all have to be added again). I think this a bug that has been introduced in a recent update.

Thanks WolfHawkeAl.  This is helpful info. My question now is how to correct this glitch. Does this get fixed in an update? Is there anything i can do on my end. Im hoping it can be corrected soon as i make presentations weekly and rely on my Microsoft product working properly. Im currently keeping my keyboard attached to my touch screen as this is the only way i can scroll my notes in presenter view.  Im looking forward to hearing if there might be a solution to my problem.

I have not performed any troubleshooting steps at this point. I do not have the two hours it takes to repair or uninstall and reinstall Office and everything else works perfectly. I can work around the issue. I was merely trying to support Peter.4 by adding some more data to the discussion. My Office installs are on the monthly update cycle, so I'm just going to hope that it gets fixed in the next install.

The key point is this: for some odd reason the notes pane on Presenter View is no longer configured for scrolling. I'm guessing there's a typo in the code somewhere. This is happening on three separate machines, one of which is running Office Pro Plus by subscription and another of which is running the Home & Personal subscription. The fact that the subscriptions are different, the Windows versions are different and the machines are different, but evidencing the same behavior suggests a systemic issue with PowerPoint build 11901.20176 rather than something that can be taken care of with the uninstall-reinstall-repair two-step (as Peter.4 evidences above). From one IT professional to another, this should be understood. Thanks for the suggestion, though.
