The search function in the top left doesn't return any results. It used to return results if the given search term appeared in either a file name or the body of a file.

    Search in onedrive doesnt work?

im finding changing from the far superior DropBox to Onedrive a big mistake...not only is dropbox atleast four times faster to download, onedrives search doesnt work...it really is a waste of money.

i search for a folder that i can actually see and it comes up ‘no items match your search’

In a somewhat disingenuous "help" article on https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/fixes-or-workarounds-for-recent-issues-in-onedrive-36110213-f3f6-490d-8cb7-3833539def0b

    Recent issues ("recent"? rubbish)

If you are experiencing problems accessing OneDrive online, you can see the status of Microsoft Office Online Services at the Service Health portal.

OneDrive search is missing some files [PENDING] (pending for a year - Microsoft doesn't care about it)

    Last updated: 25 June 2020

    ISSUE

Some customers may see a degraded Search experience when using OneDrive on the web or their mobile device. (degraded = not working at all)

    RECOMMENDED ACTION

We are working on the problem, but you can still search your OneDrive files using your computer with File Explorer or Finder. ("we are not working on the problem")

Thanks but I really just want Microsoft to get their act together and fix One Drive so it works in the way it's supposed to work so I can get what I paid for.

I agree. We just signed up for office 365 to work from home because of the virus.

It just doesn't work searching with the number of files our company has.

Interestingly, our two administrator accounts can search, just no one else.

Is this a permissions problem then?

Option 2 does not work. I am using OneDrive installed on my computer and trying to use the search bar in File Explorer and it returns nothing. It does not work at all. I can type in the exact file name and it will return no results. OneDrive and file searching is obviously broken and has been for months. Come on Microsoft, this is a ridiculous problem to leave broken for this long as it destroys the functionality of file searching for those of us who migrated all our files into OneDrive. This is how competing products start to beat you in the market place. A previous poster has already noted he mirrors to Google Drive which solved this problem. If Google drive gives him this functionality and OneDrive does not, how long do you think he will keep using both products?
