Microsoft Office 2011 Mac 64 bit upgrade

I purchased Microsoft Office 2011 along with the purchase of my MacBook. I did an upgrade yesterday only to find that Office 2011 will only run on 32 bit. The upgrade now requires Microsoft Office to run on 64bit. I read in many places that Microsoft has no intentions of supporting this upgrade so therefore, I can no longer safely use this software, that I purchased, on my mac. Microsoft is forcing me to purchase something I have already purchased earlier. I do not care if there are newer versions of Microsoft Office. I purchased Office 2011 and Microsoft should still honor that purchase by providing the 64bit upgrade. I contacted support thru their chat box and was only directed to this site where I can look up or post my own questions. Really great customer support Microsoft! Thank-you! NOT. I wish to have a refund or a product key to another Microsoft Office that will run on Mac at 64bit. I'll be holding my breath awaiting even more outstanding customer service.

You'll be pleased to know that you don't need a new product at all. You can use Office 2011 in Catalina. All you need is Parallels:

How to Set up Your Catalina Mac to Run 32-bit apps

Alternatively, Microsoft provides a completely free edition of Microsoft Office at OneDrive.com. The free version is more advanced that Office 2011. The free version supports many of the latest features that Office 2011 does not. Here's a screen shot showing the New menu where you can get started making Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, and PowerPoint presentations. Even OneNote and Forms are supported.

The free version supports features like the new equation editor across the board, Word content controls, new Excel formulas, new PowerPoint animations. And it's free. Did I mention that it's free. You don't have to pay for it.

I don't mind upgrading to Office 2019 but I have important information in some Excel documents that I want to access. Is it possible to transfer the information once Office 2019 is installed?

Your old Excel workbooks will work fine in the latest version of Office unless they are really old (say from before 2004). If you have extremely old workbooks, use File > Save As and choose to save in .xlsx in your old version of Excel before moving to the new one.

If you use Outlook, then install Office 2019 first so that you can import your Identity/Profile information into Outlook from 2011. Once you're satisfied that all your calendar, contacts, tasks, email, etc has been brought forward, then you can uninstall Office 2011.

If you use VBA to make or edit UserForms, keep Office 2011 until that feature has been completed in Office 2016.

Unless you have a nearly full drive, I suggest keeping 2011 around until you feel confident that you can do everything you need to in 2016. The two versions do not interfere with each other at all. You can remove 2011 at your convenience.

I'm a bit confused. Are you advocating keeping all three Offices, or is 2016 a misprint?
