Error- the name in the end tag of the element must match the element type in the start tag

Hi, never really posted in one of these things before I this is sort of an emergency, I have an important document due in a few days for uni and all was going good until I encounter the error 'the name in the end tag of the element must match the element type in the start tag' which is preventing me from opening my document.

Naturally when I encounter this error I googled and attempted many fixes and have been attempting to edit the document.xml file for around 4 hours now to no avail.

I would greatly appreciate some help in how to overcome this error, I've linked a google drive folder with both the entire word document as a .rar file and the document.xml file as well as a screenshot of the error below.

I really don't know how to use this site but any help would be appreciated tremendously due to the importance of me resolving this error quickly.

Thanks in advnaced for any help anyone can offer

:)

Thanks Doug. I have to admit I am up to speed with using styles in Word documents, but I'm certainly no guru when it comes to best practice overall, so much appreciated for the tip. The document was also originally created by a user who likes to put spaces or multiple tabs to align text rather than using tab stops.

Thank you Stefan, I was able to download and open the file. A bit of work to do to reformat and some missing pages (I can cut and paste these  from a similar document), but I can reopen it. and get the bulk back.

    Hi MVPs,

    I have a file here:

    https://1drv.ms/w/s!AgUIVY7ItSNUviZua_ZhOil7PPwC?e=ezf4NS

I originally edited it using Word on Windows, but I went back in and edited on a Chromebook using the Word app last night, error has come today when some colleagues were trying to review. Have looked into the document.xml but have no idea what tag to look for.

Appreciate assistance, will pay in virtual beer.

    Cheers,

    Mark.
