Touchpad scroll not working with Excel 2010

Good day all,

I have an Acer Aspire ES 15 running 64bit Windows 10 and Office 2010 Professional.

I've just built this machine from new and the only application or situation where 2 fingered scrolling on the touchpad doesn't work is Excel 2010.

Following some online advice I ran a fix which didn't fix it.

I also uninstalled Office 2010. That's when I found out Office 365 was pre-installed. I uninstalled that as well. I have now performed a fresh install of Office 2010 and still have the same problem with Excel 2010 only.

Btw, this is happening for all excel files whether they have freeze panes or not.

Any thoughts or help would be much appreciated.

I've replied to my original message but in case you miss it, just to let you know that it works. Not sure when it happened as I only tried by accident and my laptop reboots every day to try and install failed updates. It works, that's all that matters... thanks!

Excel 2010 Home and Student ver 14.0.7194.5000 (32 bit) will not 2 finger scroll using the touch pad on my Dell Insperion 5559 Intel i7 6500 cpu 2.5GHz with 2.6 GHz drive one Terabyte,  running  Windows 10 home 64-bit.

    The Update downloaded on

    March 22, 2018—KB4089848 (OS Build 16299.334)

Did make a change, but now pinch technique on touch pad causes scroll up and down of the sheet by pinching in and out, but 2 finger scrolling now changes the zoom factor of the sheet in and out by 2 finger movement in the up and down direction.

    Hi there,

    I can confirm the problem

Excel 2010 worked fine until Fall Creators update of Windows 10

    (or maybe a bit later)

Microsoft updated Windows 10 and also improved Scrolling of touch pad devices

(in my case it's a Synaptics Touchpad 64bit Enhancements).

Scrolling is smoother in Windows Explorer and other ares

BUT - Excel 2010 is completely not working with vertical scrolling (Table and any other dialog).

Seems that Excel intercepts the messages not according the updated drivers.

    (even Save Dialog, etc)

Hope there will be an update for Excel 2010 (64bit) soon so we can all use touchpad scrolling again.

I have Excel 2010 and Excel 2013.  The problem only occurs on the 2010 version.  My Excel 2013 works fine on 2 fingers scroll....

Intriguing. Is this MS's attempt to get me to upgrade... like Apple and their 'go slow', or am I just a bit too cynical.

Thanks for that info, it may be helpful Michel.
