Finally Solved my issue by following the below instructions found on another thread. Shame it took 12 hours of stress to finally get Office365 to work.

Renamed the tokens.dat file found at C:\Windows\System32\spp\store\2.0\ to tokens.dat.old let me do an install that worked.

    Hope this works for others

Very interesting! I don't have that path, though. Could it be C:\Windows\System32\spp\store_test\2.0\tokens.dat ? That's the first time I've ever seen that.

    Add Net Local Group

To add a Net Local Group you'll need to run a few commands from command prompt. To do this, open command prompt with administrator privileges:

    1. In search, type command prompt,
    2. In the search results, right click Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator

Copy the following commands and past them into the command prompt by right clicking and selecting paste (you cannot use CTRL + V in command prompt to paste)

Copy one command at a time and press enter after pasting each one in the command prompt

          net localgroup Administrators localservice /add

    *fsutil resource setautoreset true C:*

    netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt

After you've entered all of the commands, reboot your system and try activating Office again.

    =====================================================================

The "Add NET local group" worked; it's a shame that for my first install of Office 2016 on Win10 was so painful. I've lost count of how many times I've uninstalled, reinstalled, rebooted, tweaked, etc., etc.

The experience reminds and re-enforces - for me - that I should always wait before rushing to install new products...

When using the Command Prompt, I get

    System error 1378 has occurred

The specified account name is already a member of the group.

    The operation completed successfully,

    Resetting Interface, OK!

    Resetting Neighbor, OK!

    Resetting Path, OK!

    Resetting, failed.

    Access is denied.

    Resetting, OK!

Restart the computer to complete this action.

Does this mean something didn't work, because after resetting, I still get the same error.
