Can’t open or save files after upgrading to Windows 10

I tried Libre but it also froze.  My spreadsheet was working fine in Windows 8 when all my applications worked well.  I didn't have a problem with the O/S.  I think the interface of Windows 10 is nice, but if the OS doesn't work... still waiting to hear from MS.  The fix MS provided did not work:  neither did all the work done by the Support Desk.  The Support Desk staff did a great job:  this is a compatibility issue between W10 and both Office 2016 and 365.

Can someone just help me downgrade my OS to Windows 8.1 until MS gets the bugs fixed?

I have tried the workarounds and also uninstalled and reinstalled my Office 2013 into Windows 10 but still no joy. Although I get notification saying I can now use the application and all the icons appear in the list, when I try to open any of them I get the same error message:

'Windows cannot find C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\root\Office 15\WINWORD.EXE.'

My troubleshooter informs me that Word 2013 in 'incompatible.'  Surely it can't be that difficult for technical wizards to ensure compatibility before rolling out the wonder that is Windows 10!

So much time has been wasted exploring various solutions, my productivity has been adversely affected.  I find this situation totally unacceptable. Why do I suspect that there may be something deliberate going on here?

I am so fed up with Excel.  I've contacted the Support Desk four times; they get Excel working for a while, then the app stops responding.  I've got the same problem as Leonard753 and timecruncher:  like them, Office worked fine until the Windows 10 "upgrade".

I was unable to upgrade/reinstall Office (either 365 or 16) after Excel froze several times.  Yes, the Support Desk has gone into the REG files three times to delete any existing Office versions for both Office 365 and Office 16.  They were able to get Excel working, but the same problem happens again only a few days later.

They all did a great job, so it is clearly nothing to do with all the help I've gotten from them.  The first time this happened, the rep spent three hours troubleshooting the problem; another time, the rep spent over an hour.  Getting Office to work shouldn't be this difficult given how much I'm spending.

If anyone can help me figure out what I can do, I'd appreciate any help.  At this time, I think being able to downgrade my O/S to 8.1 (when all my apps worked flawlessly) and Office 365 or earlier is the answer.  Can someone help me do this? I've already tried the "%userprofile%" fix: so did the Support Desk.

I'm sad to say I've had it with Office.  Open source software is more and more looking like a better option.  I can't even back up files from my Android to my HD using Windows 10 (which worked with 8.1).

Yes, it's a dreadful saga. Although I solved my Microsoft Office problem, I have yet to deal with the fact that the Windows 10 installation wiped my Samsung updates (my laptop is a Samsung and they used to regularly send system updates) and also the software which backed up my files to my Buffalo Ministation external hard drive. Even when the hard drive is connected, Windows 10 does not recognise that the device is there. I haven't tried to save as a pdf, but will give this a try...with a great deal of trepidation. Sorry you're having such an awful time. I hope MS sorts it out soon.

Its worse then you think-

MS word 2013 won't even 'saveas' a PDF -part of its own internal print options and they tell - I can not produce documents- I'm toast- the work around did not work for me. It will not find an HP printer on a USB connection, Therefore I can;t do it old style and mail something.

I am literally going out of business- My Autocad won't even save to a pdf or print. It to freezes up when saving just as the MS word 2013 - I spent several hours with MS support doing an uninstall and reinstall- they then declared I needed to update my other software....
