Hi all,

I have an access acce that i run on two different machines, one of which is in windows 10 /Office 2016, the other one is in Windows 10 / Office 2010. My Acces prints out perfectly on the 2010 version of Access and no image is coming our on the 2016 version on Office (the same Accde was printing perfectly as i had Access 2013 before the weekend) now no image is coming out on the print.

If I look on screen at the report, pictures are there, as soon as I get onto the print preview, images are gone !

This is probably a new feature of access 2016 that I am not aware of !

Can anybody help me ?

Thanks in advance

Marc

Patrick, I fully understand the affect this has had. And I couldn't agree more that a way of going back should have been made available. But it doesn't really matter how specific the issue is, a fix needed to be found, tested and then implemented within the rollout cycle. As I understand it a potential fix was identified late in October. And the testing made it miss the November cycle. Hence the December release.

First, we are not talking about One Drive for Business. I have no knowledge of the issues surrounding that product and have not made any comment on it.

Second, I'm sorry, but Access still works. You can enter data,  run queries, run reports, etc. I certainly understand that this feature is important to many people. But, again, in the big picture it is still a relatively minor issue. You have a car and the motor that raises one of the back windows doesn't work. The car still works. it still takes people from point a to point b. People with larger families that use the back seat more suffer greater inconvenience. But it is still a minor issue. Just because it is important to you doesn't mean it is a major issue. Again, look at the big picture.

I understand that you may not need all that Office offers. But the bottom line is that your ire (and it is understandable) is focused on one relatively small issue. It will be fixed, it probably shouldn't have broken in the first place. But these things happen. No software company is immune to it.

The problem is not that the bug exists, it's that Microsoft is not giving us the option to go back to 2013 when things actually worked.

Saying this is not an issue to most people so it's not an issue is not acceptable. Just because you personally don't use pictures in your reports does not mean no one else does. Access is one of, if not the only, office program that is used almost solely by companies, not by individuals. When things like this break businesses have to take time out of their day to fix the issue (or not) which costs money.

I am not impressed by Microsoft's response time to this at all. I doubt I will be renewing my Office 365 subscription this year and I will advise others to do the same if at all possible.

    Will,

First, I agree with you that not giving the option to rollback is a problem. I don't know why that wasn't or isn't offered. so I can't speak to that.

Second, I NEVER said it is not an issue. Please read what I have been saying, not what you think I said. it is certainly an issue, Microsoft accepts that it is an issue. Microsoft is taking the issue seriously and has devoted resources to fixing it.

Third, not being impressed by the response is your own opinion. I don't happen to share it. I think the response has been reasonable given the circumstances. It is certainly your prerogative to not renew. but the fact of the matter is there is very little out there that approaches Office in market share, feature set etc. I don't believe that the presence of this bug or the response time in fixing it is or should be a major factor in continued use of Office. You are entitled to your opinion, but I don't believe its a reasonable reaction.

What I think is "pretty bad" is people railing against Microsoft for relatively minor bugs.

Again, what might be minor to you is major to a lot of other people, hence this thread. To say that a feature that allows people to insert images into reporting (which lets face it is a major part of Access) without clipping them or using a file format that is rarely used in modern computing, to say it's relatively minor feels unfair to me, but then I use that feature multiple times a day. All that with no roll back option like previous versions of office, when 2013 came out, if there were ground breaking bugs for us, I could revert to 2010!

I've said nothing derogatory in this thread, let alone heaped it on. Just stated fact. Months (actually, well over a year) to make OneDrive For Business usable for us (when we signed up, no where was it advertised with a 20k file limit on syncing, just the GB storage amount, took me multiple calls and an hour with MS TS before even they could figure out what was going on!) and now 3 months to fix this issue has caused me and many others no end of grief, and I'm afraid that's as big as the picture gets for us.

You have a fair point on the beta spot, I only have this thread to go by, I wasn't even aware of Office 2016 until I had the email saying to upgrade.

Unfortunately for MS, we are a small business, and without advertising other companies products on here, there are a few that have more than enough depth and breadth for our needs, we chose MS because we trusted them.

No offense is directed at any individual or MS, you MVP's are a very helpful lot and I appreciate you get the brunt of peoples anger a lot of the time, but the bigger picture is always different depending on your perspective :-)
