No local file storage for OneNote on Mac version?

Thanks for the feedback and in the free version of OneNote for Mac it only syncs to the cloud as you see.  Why don't you have your files in the cloud?  Without doing this you all cannot use your notes on other devices.  And the team is looking to add Office 365 & SharePoint sync for work users who cannot sync to OneDrive; right now it was more consumer focused.

As for local files there isn't yet a way to upload them to OneDrive yet, do you have a bunch of old files that you don't have open in OneNote that you can't upload?

Why don't I have my files in the cloud? Because I don't want all of them in the cloud. Period. There needs to be no reason other than that, but there actually are many reasons. Not being able to interact with the local filesystem breaks OneNote in other ways. Many people have outlined numerous reasons why this is an issue. Some people want to have the option of either using a different cloud service or perhaps their own private cloud (and I'm not necessarily talking about the business use case here).

Don't look into making OneNote work with Office 365 and SharePoint until you add the ability to interact with files locally, which shouldn't be a problem because it's about the most trivial feature Microsoft can address. It's basically feature 0. The fact that it has been omitted is completely unacceptable. Trying to rationalize this as "well, it's free!" does not work here. People have been waiting for OneNote on the Mac for years. Literally. Those people have given Microsoft a lot of money for Office already. Not being able to work with files locally is a slap in the face. The fact that you seriously ask, "Why don't you have your files in the cloud?" doesn't help at all. Why didn't you implement the most basic feature users expect?

This is no different than if you had omitted the same thing on Windows, and I will tell you that doing so would be an act of self-destruction.

If I upload to the cloud, OneNote doesn't see it. I have tried with numerous .one files - I don't even get an error message ... nothing!

I have LOTS of old note files that I would love to see again. I used to keep all my notes in OneNote until moving jobs to an Mac-centric environment. How do I get to see my old '.one' files in this version, or online? Nothing seems to work. So disappointed.

I do have a bunch of old files that I would like to upload into onedrive. How do I do this? I tried doing it through the onedrive app for mac, but the onenote notebooks are in the documents folder and not on onenote.com which is what is shared with my other IOS devices. Any ideas?

I've been using Outline, the Onenote lookalike. I have hundreds of pages, Onenote format, on disk. I'd like to make use of them in Onenote for Mac. I have no PC

I am trying to upload a PC OneNote .onepkg file, but it can't, so I would also like to see some local file storage!
